the 80's look!!

lav.loo - 2012-03-23 13:00

thought it would be a good idea to see if anyone has a particular box in mind that just screams out 80's in the looks department' to me it would be a big black box like the trc931, it just has 80's written all over it

bison - 2012-03-23 13:21

i dont think of the lasonics when i think back, where i lived it was sharps and philips, but it seems everyone nowadays thinks of  a crown sz5100,

more likely any box of the generic shape like a toshiba rt 120 in my opinion.

lav.loo - 2012-03-23 13:26

yeah the sz5100 would sure be up there Bison, i suppose it all depends on which area/country you was raised.

macflyer - 2012-03-23 13:29

silver, one piece.

the black 3pcs are more 90s for me....or late 80s.....

lav.loo - 2012-03-23 13:30

any particular model Macflyer??

I bet, with minor differences, it just could have been a Panasonic, General electric, Sony, Phillips, and what not.....it's like with japanese cars from the 90s....

i never seen anything bigger than a philips d8444 in manchester on the street back then....,i was a breakdancer then graffitti artist all through the eighties from 1983 onwards,

i seen a gf 777 in blackpool back then that was it.

if you carried anyhting of that calibre where i lived you wouldnt carry it for long

deliverance - 2012-03-23 13:49

   ah the eighties

bison - 2012-03-23 13:52

haha scousers shoulder the blame for the moody shellsuits

radio.raheem - 2012-03-23 14:01

all of them...lol where can you get a box now hehe for me it would be the boxes personal to me...jvc pc55 akai pj33 jvc dc33l, 777 1000 family...and to me a box must be silver to scream true 80's the crown sz100 wasn't reliced till 88 if i remember correctly...i bought one new...but it still has 80's bling and the lasonics....but like i said silver for me all the way...altho the jvc 550 reminds me of the 80's but the silver one looks strange...im not even sure what decade the m90 was aimed at tho....it dosent feel 70's or 80's....the m70 fits in nicley shame about the sound though

radio.raheem - 2012-03-23 14:27

And the conionc100 pioneer909........i just wish i diddn't have to be so fussy on sound issues...i would have never have let go of my last pioneer909 ..last 2 from me..crown 970..and sanyo 920

brutus442 - 2012-03-23 14:38

80's....The Conion 100

The RC 550 just reeks 70's to me...(mono era)

conion100

conion100

radio.raheem - 2012-03-23 14:50

yea your right about the 550 brutus....i guess it's just because i would like one myself in a funny way....same ol chesnut for me though lad...i know they sound rubbish

bison - 2012-03-23 14:55

a friend pulled me on that latest vw ad with the 777 and said what was that all about because it said 1995..he doesnt collect boxes and is 30 years old,

seems advertising agencys havent got a scooby doo...

chris69 - 2012-03-23 14:57

My thoughts exactly. Silver and chrome box's. The black boomers make me think later 1980's to 1990's.
