How Many Boombox Collectors in the UK

mitchelljames - 2013-09-01 07:17

As the title says.

It would seem with the amount of active UK posters both here and Boomboxery (is there another portable audio forum) there really is not many, 20?

If it really was only about 20 why dont we all have C100's, M90's etc in our collections as there must be alot more than 20 or so in the UK and why are they not dirt cheap.

So there must be more than 20 collecters, especially when you consider some of the crazy bidding we see on ebay. Maybe theres 200+ collectors in the UK?

So where are they? Personally i cant really imagine myself collecting without a medium for sharing the my interest.

Is it possible that there is collecters out there who dont talk to anybody else about boomboxes, dont share pictures of collections, dont visit other collecters, dont buy and/or sell to other enthusiasts, do not share there hobby with anybody else in any way, maybe dont even look at forums like here and Boomboxery.

Dont know where im going with this, just thinking aloud

As I write this there are 11 members signed in and 327 guests. I think a lot of UK collectors may be among that number of guests. I also think that people come and go from both sites and those posting a few years ago are still interested but not so much that they would want to answer and talk about the same topics again.

Think there are many more "collectors" as you say and do not wish to post or comment here. In and amongst those you also have a good amount of those in it purely to make money.

Well all the sharing and meeting others is a big part of the fun of this hobby so I couldn't imagine collecting without the forums. There are definitely a lot more people buying boxes in the UK than are on the forums. Maybe a lot of people just buy ONE...weird concept tho lol

There  amount of guests does not necessarily mean visitors but could be Google Bots searching for images.

I can count on my two hands how many real collectors there are in Canada. I wish there were more but it seems our hobby is not being appreciated by the next gen.

i think si has made a valid point,...i know quite a few people with just one early eighties box(i have give a few away)

just having a decent ipod dock in eighties boombox form is enough for some.
