Boombox on The Clash music video "Rock the Casbah"?

Does anybody here know what that gorgeous red ghetto blaster on the music video by The Clash for their song "Rock the Casbah" is?

It's a beautiful boombox; predominantly red with black and chrome trim. And I believe it was in a scene with Arab shieks near an outdoor swimming pool in full daylight.

I last saw this video on MTV in the very early-1980s, so I cannot be more specific in describing the ghetto blaster.

Anybody?

My first guess is a Sanyo of some sort but I'm trying to find a cleaner video to watch. Smile

I was thinking that it may have been a Sanyo as well; though in my mind there was a small but not insignificant chance that it may have been a Sony.

It's definitely a Sharp. The layout of the cassette keys on top and the curved top microphones are a dead giveaway. Perhaps it's a painted GF-9191?

Well, looks like DecentMan4you beat me to the punch here...I had the same image from the same YourTube video to post here:

How bizzare it was on a top 100 british anthem countdown here last saturday night and I was going to ask the same question. Confused

If it can be determined that the box in the video has LED VUs, it's probably the Sharp GF-9292:

I've always loved that song (and video) and wanted to know what that box was for years. Thanks, fellas! Cool
