Fantastic scans! Thanks!

That 5959 is a new one for me. I like the two-tone design.

Interesting the colors shown for the QT-50. There were more - lavender, yellow, blue - but maybe not in 1984. I've always thought of it as basically a kids' radio, but it looks like Sharp had different marketing ideas for it: as an upscale fashion radio for hot babes to hold!

Funny how the caption for the QT-12 says there are four colors, but the photo shows five. Where are the proofreaders when you need them? (Unless black or white isn't considered a color.)

That's awesome, makes me regret throwing away all of the catalogs I had from the late 70's and early 80's.

If you'll excuse me I'm going to go kick my a$$. Mad

Neat scans, love the 80's fashion and photography style.

Too bad Sharps boxes were crap by this time.

Nice scans - good to see how these looked back in the day! It does generally look like the quality was dropping a bit then - sadly, the GF-4343 was my teenage boombox - all my budget could stretch to!

The QT77 is a pretty solid unit though - good build quality and features.

I Agree I had a few Spiegels and Sears catalogs from the early 80's with some great boomboxes in 'em... Don't know where they are now!

Mono, I actually had numerous sanyo, panasonic, JVC, Toshiba and other brochures from multiple years. I can remember browsing through them and seeing many of the boxes we prize today.

Oh it's painful to think of all those brochures I just threw away. Frown

I remember 1984 as the year that the "new wave" of music and fashion really hit the mainstream in a big way here in America. This brochure certainly reflects that exciting era (I especially loved those big hairdos women had back then Nod Yes ).At the time,I remember seeing the Sharp GT-50 in stores and thinking it a very nice looking model. However,I didn't buy one because I thought it looked a bit feminine by design. Now i wish i had been more open minded. To this day I love '80s style.
