I would recommend it as a must have to any boombox collector, It not only documents the history of the boombox, it contains lots of stunning photography as well.

plus --i think that every featured boombox in the gallery is owned by

a member -- its a terrific book to read and to own

It is an excellent book and serves also as this generation's Pannini sticker collection book with the subtle difference that any new purchaser of the book that has seemingly inexhaustable funds has to actually obtain the items pictured instead of stickers. The 'collectors' are no longer at school, so swapping is geographically challenging and this is obviously going to lead to import taxes being charged and that helps the government to balance the books. Therefore we can deduce 2 things; The first is that the publisher of the book was the UK tax man and second, we have an explanation for the currently insane high prices!

Imo the Boombox Project is like the Holy Bible

when it comes to Portable radio cassette players!

One more book that i like is the Old Boombox Design Catalogue

which is written in  Japanese but its full of great pics as well.

Would recommend both of them.

I agree with the others, it's a great book for collectors as well as those curious about the culture surrounding those who own(ed) them.

Watch Amazon for pricing for a few weeks before buying: I picked mine up new for just over $7.00.
