Yes

While the front of the grills of the tweeters are chrome the plastic is a dark color between the grill slots, so at that angle, in that picture, it looks like the tweeters are dark

Don't know about the sticker on the left speaker grill - don't have one on my parts box

deech - 2013-04-12 01:02

Wow Claret fantastic pics !!

Every Clash member must have had its own boombox

back then !

And i ve also checked Futura he is an amazing artist

and an avant guarde of the graffiti art !

Didnt know he made some work for James Lavelle

UNKLE . I am at least impressed !!

The 9191 is one of my favourites so I'd not part with it voluntarily   But they're not that uncommon in the uk at least, I'm sure you'd find one easy enough.  There were a couple on Gumtree the other day, one damaged one in good nick, both for not much money

northerner - 2013-08-28 08:05

I've also got the Aiwa TPR990 and Sanyo 7900 they're pictured with above as well...not selling those either lol

clashboxer - 2013-08-28 11:18

would u sell them to The Clash? ... needed for the upcoming pop up shop in Soho starts 6th Sept. http://www.nme.com/news/the-clash/72163 or any links to ads would be helpful ... cheers.

mitchelljames - 2013-08-28 11:33

Ive got a 9191 i may sell, only the radio works though, not the tape.

09

clashboxer - 2013-08-28 11:48

They are of course most interested in fully working ones - how much do u want for your one out of interest ... cheers

northerner - 2013-08-28 11:49

That is pretty cool

To part me from my 9191 or the other two Joe Strummer himself would have to come and get them

I would've considered hiring them out but I'm at the other end of the country and I wouldn't ship them.

clashboxer - 2013-08-28 11:53

Fair enough - any more out there?  - in or near London would be helpful ...

northerner - 2013-08-28 11:53

Surely the clash themselves aren't buying but their record company or PR people are for the shop?

mitchelljames - 2013-08-28 12:04

Ref the 9191

£100 shipped in the UK mate. And im about 30 miles south of London.

mitchelljames - 2013-08-28 12:10

Does it have to be a 9191.

Ive also got a Sharp GF-575, fully working in great condition. Its just as big as the 9191 maybe bigger and i think sounds better.

£150 shipped in the UK.

mitchelljames - 2013-08-28 12:18

I think i saw a Sanyo M9998 in one of those pics.

This isn't mine but i saw it on ebay....

bison - 2013-08-28 12:40

clashboxer - 2013-08-28 14:05

No it's Paul Simonon and Gordon McHarg specifically looking.

The radio is working but not the tape.

From memory cosmetic condition is quite good but as this this box is in my attic i would have to get it down and have a look, all i really remember is the tape not working.

TBH if your patient you could find a fully working one for the same money

northerner - 2013-08-28 14:42

Wow cool that its Simonon and McHarg themselves....wish it wasn't the 9191 they were after as I'd love to sell a boombox to The Clash...that would be just about as cool as cool can be Mine is in good nick and fully working but as I said its a favourite of mine partly because of The Clash association with that box. Just couldn't sell it.

deech - 2013-09-04 10:43

Clashboxer If Simonon himself is looking for this box

then i m willing to give A Sharp GF9191

as a contribution for this project for free.

The only catch is to meet the Legend plus

 i m located in Athens !

aaronhorrocks - 2013-10-14 20:17

I found these original photos of The Clash, with what is clearly a Sharp GF-9191...

Someone did an absolutely beautiful paint job on this thing. Does anyone know how they did this? Perhaps an airbrush of some sort? Or since this was the 1980s, maybe just some spray cans?

seb968 - 2013-10-15 03:12

Fantastic band, fantastic post!

clashboxer - 2013-10-15 07:16

I asked Paul if he painted his and he said yes - I did ask Mick too re the GF9191 but i don't remember his answer ... it does have Futura on it who is a New York artist - maybe he painted it too ?

aaronhorrocks - 2013-10-16 18:53

How's about that skeleton wearing a top hat? What's that sticker?

metad - 2014-03-10 13:43
