Good luck in your quest, I too finally got my bbx from my teen years ( my avatar) Big Grin

lasonic.trc920 - 2009-02-06 22:43

What box is yours?
Originally when I was a kid my dream box was a Realistic SCR-6. But when I found this Lasonic I had to have it. It has less features but it was hands down LOUDER and when your 14-15 years old...thats all I cared about!

I call it the TRC-TANK...i love this box Big Grin

Nice!

I call it the TANK because i took one of my "roughed up" 920's and put it through a "beatdown test", and it survived Big Grin ...it is a VERY VERY strong boombox, and the sound is great with lots of bass!

I remember having my 920 for about 4-5 years and I lived with it. This would have been back in 1983 through 1986-87. That 920 blasted for ever and it was with me every minute. I'm hoping I can find a real nice one. Something I can use.

baddboybill - 2009-02-08 08:24

I got my cec OL7540 around 1984. It lasted me the whole summer. Boy was it awsome. Anyway my brother got his hands on it and it became junk Frown But I have so many memories of that era

gsbadbmr....your killing me over here! If you'd like to part with one of those 920 for cold hard cash, you let me know!

So now I have to ask. Since I first got on this site I saw your picture with the wall of C100F's. I know you get bugged about this I'm sure but I have to ask...

Are all those yours?
If so...
How long did it take to locate them all and how much do you have invested?

I mean, sh@t by todays standards, that’s about $18,000-$20,000!

With out a doubt, that is the most impressive picture I have seen here or anywhere on the internet!

lasonic.trc920 - 2009-02-09 17:54

Hey gsbadbmr, One more question...I have seen some pictures of 920's with white speakers and some with black. Mine had black, I know that for sure. Any info on that?

I see yours are black.

Hi Lasonic TRC-920!

Yes, all those C-100's are mine. In the pic there are 18 complete C-100's, and the week after i did that pic i found another C-100 locally, so i'm up to 19 of them now, and as you can see it's my "preferred" boombox of choice Big Grin. It took me 4 years to find all 19 of them...mostly found in the wild and through my contacts. We don't normally discuss "prices" about boxes here but it's safe to say it's cost me a fair amount of money, and a countless amount of time and mileage finding them, along with the rest of the boxes in my collection.

I have 5 920's, and they all have the black speaker cones. It looks to me like the pic with the lighter speaker cones...they look like they have been swapped from another Lasonic model...like the 920t, 922, Lpc-82,LPC-85 or maybe even the L30 etc...or any other of the Lasonic models.

Thanks for the comments Wink

Wow man, Thats allot of passion on that wall! Or addiction depending on how you look at it. But with out a doubt very impressive. I used to be that way about cars....Had many classics. Old Chevy's. I still have a few toys. But nothing can touch that stack of yours!

i bought a brand new trc 920 back in the day and it came with white woofers ,i know that a limited number did come from the factory with the white woofers .

lasonic.trc920 - 2009-02-09 20:14

Hey JVC Floyd, Thats interesting. Maybe it was a production run issue!

baddboybill - 2009-02-09 20:20

Lasonic seems to do what no other company does, They try new things. for example 1st there were 2 versions of trc931. 1 had meters on left and the other was on right. Then later they came out with a reproduction trc931 model. and now the updated i931 in which there are 5 different types/colors. I dont believe any other manufacturer ever did that Wink

lasonic.trc920 - 2009-02-10 01:57

Yeah, Lasonic has done some weird things. I bought my TRC-920 new in 1983. Long before the Conion C100F or the TRC-935/975. I want one again because I used to have one. For me it is wild to come back all these years later and find out that this company built some really WILD machines. It’s even wilder to see the total respect and affection that is out there for some of these models. It floors me that someone might feel a 777 is “THEIR DREAM MACHINE” for as many reason as the 920 is mine. What an attachment a person can have.

At this point this mythological beast only known as the C100F just interest’s me. I’ve never seen one in real life. Seeing the pictures with the 920 on top, dwarfing it blows my mind. I have to check the truck of my car to make sure it would fit, before I could buy one!
