Parts and Boxes from Japan

rom.selecta - 2009-06-30 20:51

Hi All!

I live in Japan and have noticed quite a few rare boxes popping up on yahoo auctions Japan and a few other auction sites - some in good, useable shape, some for parts or restoration. Most of the sellers wont send overseas, but I will, so I may be able to help find stuff that is needed here.

Let me know what you are after, what you are prepared to pay and I will see if I can chase it down!

FYI its mostly Japanese made boxes I have been finding...

I am currently bidding on my first box myself - a GF-999!

Fantastic!! It'll be SO nice for us to have a contact in Japan. Thanks!!

I've been looking for a Columbia boombox (ANY Columbia boombox) for years and years. If you ever see one for sale on Yahoo Japan, please send me a private message. I'd really appreciate it! Big Grin

Gimme some model numbers and I will keep an eye out!
Not quite a boombox http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/119335612 but it is a Columbia!

Welcome ROM Selecta! I definitely agree with the other's sentiments, it is a great asset to have someone in Japan who would be able to locate some of the hard-to-find gems that are so scarce/expensive in the USA.

It would be interesting to see what a Conion C100F would go for in Japan. This is one of the next boxes I am looking to purchase in the near future. However, the later Korean models do not interest me. I am looking for one of the early models made in Kobe. And anything Hitachi, those are my favorite Smile

Also, I wanted to ask you ROM: Are you seeing a lot of Chinese boomboxes in the Japanese market? To be honest, I don't think I would ever buy one. When I go hunting for Boomboxes or electronics, it has to be made in Japan or I won't buy it! Smile

Thank you for your efforts and have a great weekend!

No joy on any C100F's - is there any other model #/names it might go by? Any relation to a Hitachi PERDiSCO TRK-8280 (I found one of those)?

I havent seen any chinese copies of retro boxes yet, if thats what ya mean... but I have just started looking so who knows LOL

What about a Sharp RS-5,or GF757 OF GF858 ?

rom.selecta - 2009-07-04 06:51

Found a Sharp RS-5G which looks the same and is very clean but its pricey - 10000 yen and a GF-787 but its had a battery leak.

No GF-858 - only 808, 818ST, 828SB, 828T, 868, & 888

Are they of any use to ya?

I also found a SHARP MELODY SEARCHER W MR-990 with keyboard!
