Wanted: JVC PC-5 Quintet

71spud - 2008-01-30 09:03

I wanted one of these back when they came out. I forgot about it until recently and started searching for information and I ended up here. I am only interested in complete units in very good (or better) condition and I am willing to pay for that.... Contact me if you have one for sale or are even considering selling if the price is right. Thank you!!

71spud - 2008-01-30 21:08

c'mon.... Cool

skippy1969 - 2008-01-30 22:06

Good luck! I've been asking for someone to sell/trade me for an Aiwa CS880 since I became a member her in October of 2003. Tap Toes Roll Eyes

71spud - 2008-02-01 12:34

I will pay good money for a good unit....

Excellent money for an excellent unit.

Someone must have this in their collection and could use the money for a different purchase. Me, I am not a hard=core collector. I just want it because I had always wanted one from way back.... So I am not really interested in anything else... (other than MAYBE an M70...)

erniejade - 2008-02-05 10:56

They were great units!! becarefull of foam rot on them when buying one.

Here's your love man. You gotta understand, sometimes you gotta take some dings to get the "Grail". Big Grin

Here is one buddy

there is another on the bay with reafoamed speakers im trying to find it for you.

fatdog - 2008-02-17 21:34

I think this is the other one Tim is referring to. It NEEDS to be refoamed. Also missing the small door that covers the tape selection and noise reduction switches. Pretty bad shape overall.

isolator42 - 2008-02-19 07:59

Aha, so we have a "personal grail" quest... good luck Smile
Mine took a fair while, mainly because the little Philips b-box I wanted wasn't exactly a popular model. So, patience is the key. You shall have your grail... in time!

I think the auction Tim was referring to was hanksey's:

oldskool69 - 2008-02-23 03:40

Hey! 71spud won it! Congrats man! I know how it feels. I'm chasing the other half of my grail pair now. Big Grin

71spud - 2008-03-04 14:19

I did win it.... shipping near killed me... $150... more than the box itself. No handle, but it did have the back cord cover and all the tabs are there. The end of the power cord was cut off... I also bought a PC-5 (Thanks James!) that I just got today that is pretty complete (no back cord cover, broken eject button) and pretty good shape (marks on top, sides). I also won an auction for a supposedly mint center section (no speakers, handle, cord cover, etc). I saw the other two auctions mentioned above, but the one was in pretty poor shape and the other was another overseas deal and even with Babblefish I was not comfortable with bidding on the German auction.... Once I get everything together I hope to have a complete assembled unit that is about a 9/10 grade and another unit that I will display as seperates (like in the Globetrotter ad) And the rest of the parts will be a boneyard.... I will probably never stop looking for the perfect unit and/or upgrading mine..... Even if I find one in a box that has never been opened I will buy it, not open it and look for another one in a box that I will open.... such is the quest for a Grail.... it never ends.

71spud - 2008-03-05 10:39

BTW I have a special related find headed my way.... I don't want to jinx it so I won't be more specific until it comes and I can post pictures. Guesses are always welcome though. Smile

71spud - 2008-03-05 11:27

I am ~this~ excited....

71spud - 2008-03-18 16:00

Here it is!!
My Exciting Find!

transwave5000 - 2008-04-03 15:49

I was drooling over a JVC boombox at Sears when they came out.
Back in 1991.
Last year I found the same unit besides a dumpster at my apartment.
Needs a bit of fixing but its in good condition.
Smile Smile
