wanted crown 850

saxonman - 2011-11-14 15:43

has any body got a poor condition 850???? must be complete and be in sort of working condition ie amp must work both channels but anything else is not a problem???? maybe would do a deal or a swap for my M70 which in black and works tape and radio but body is very poor it had been dropped and repaired by the last owner and repaired badly thats why i sprayed it !!and has got replacement speakers i still have the originals but they are falling to bits!!the rear case is messed up one hole and a few other problems!!!

but the good thing about the M70 is it works perfect sound wise and is a beast very loud as ya know !!

If anyone is interested PM and i sent pics and full breakdown of faults

thanks mark

ha ha ha nice one reno

radio.raheem - 2011-11-15 03:24

I hate pulling people up like this....especially sombody who most of us like...(james)

if we all started asking fair prices for boomboxes...with a few exeptions....this could be an enjoyable hobby for us, instead of having to get a damn mortgage to buy a boombox....on the upside the crown 850 is a cheaply made boombox but it's sound quality HAMMERS the jvcm70 imho.....the 850 diserves much more credit than it GETS.....only thing that lets it down is there is no handle...

ghettoman - 2011-11-15 03:35

Badger, your a good man, very rare to see a reasonable guy and a reasonable price, thats kool of you..i hope you guys can strike a deal..

James,uk prices are ALOT different than usa,i actually think prices in Uk are "normal" prices, where as usa prices are (in my opinion) can be Crazy,i've seen boxes on ebay uk sell for 10% of the price of a same box on usa ebay, but there is more demand in usa, population is way higher than uk,and you get alot more people willing to go mad over a particular box, where as in uk we can set a limit and stick to it..

deliverance - 2011-11-15 03:46

james might be having a bad hair day,  prices in the us do go over the top as beanie man says there are allot more people bidding and wanting them which pushes up the prices,    the us is vast were as uk is tiny in comparison hence more dollars

Hey beanie lad....any 3 peice you would like for 1 of you're jumo's lad

ghettoman - 2011-11-15 04:17

dude,i think they are going to need some maintenence,i've left them sitting around again, and with them being (not the best) constructed quality boxes, they always become victim of sitting/unused syndrome..not used them since i had this crap with my neighbor probebly last summer,i can guarentee they will have some sort of issue, just like my cheapo crown SZ5100 and Unisef, same thing happens to them aswell..its only the nicer boxes like sharp, philips, jvc ect that dont suffer as much from being stood..

The crown Sz5100 is'nt the same nice Quality as the 850,950,970,they are nice, the 5100 look ok but is Quite Poo Quality on the inside, even the body is creaky aswell when you pick it up,you get the feeling its going to fall to bits lol..

radio.raheem - 2011-11-15 04:28

Im not bothered lad....i know what the crown is like....just i have pc55's alsorts sitting here son...i never use em....the only 3 peice i wish to keep is that rare tosh....but man if you want 2 pc 55 or whateaver....giz a shout...ok son

ghettoman - 2011-11-15 05:00

i still got 2 pc55's lad,one is working and one is pretty poor..

claret.badger - 2011-11-15 05:13

I wouldn't mind an SZ5100

I'd trade my mint Studio 1 for a working M70 as well

Maybe the 850 is rare in the states James
but it just seems anything you try and sell has a premium tag

Over here in the land of the stiff upper lip and fairplay we work to a thing called "mates rates"

I have a Hitachi TRK 8200 you can buy for 250 dollars free shipping if you like

spoken like a true anglo saxon   think the 8200 is a tad over the top sir!

radio.raheem - 2011-11-15 06:19

I wouldn't pay a 5ver for an 8200...but to james this must seem a REAL bargin

Since I have experienced so many bbx's the 8200 is beneath specifications put upon for a box by me, so really - NOT interested in ANYThing Hitachi Has to offer in Any thing that Hitachi Makes

radio.raheem - 2011-11-15 06:34

But james the 8600 blows away the m90 and the 550 combined

ghettoman - 2011-11-15 06:35

£60 for the 850,good price,an 8200,i had one,i liked it alot, the needles vu's are cool..but had to sell it as part of thinning down my boxes,i only got £22 for,i was a bit dissapointed,i thought it would have sold for quite a bit more than that but thats the way it goes sometimes..ups and downs..

Is there any box you don't like paul ladlol

ghettoman - 2011-11-15 06:49

i like alot of boxes me man, some i like (and would like to own) some i like but i dont want..but i appreciate the quality..some i think are ok and are underated, like the DT680,And some i think are ok but i think are way overated, like the discolite for example,i have had one so i know that they are ok but no way in the world are they worth a grand, take those flashing lights away and i tell ya now, they would sell for about £100,if that..

The " Protection Bar's " at either end on the TOP of this Box for the TOP Mounted Control's - DOUBLE's as a handle

Law of average's and People versus Population's then number's of people's wanting boombox's and the Latitude of the Planet - as it seems in the Colder or North Latitude of the Planet there are more Boombox's than in the Sourthern regions as these are heavy to carry therefore you get hot whilst doing so Down South but NOT as Much up North Where the Normal tempature is KOOLER - so people tend to be outside more - My Observations...

radio.raheem - 2011-11-15 07:14

Thats my prob paul...if the sound isn't up to my standard....off it goes...take the m70 yd prolly love the sound....me im just to fussy....to me the music i listen to diserves a good quality sound sorce....with a certain depth and warmth....and there are plenty boxes that can supply this quality in sound....if they sound (crap for want of a better turm) it just spoils the music....if i want to listen to rubbish...i may aswell buy an ipod....most people dont get this lol....that crown 970 for example...sounds like a hifi...NOT a boombox

plugged into the wall or main's source of power maybe

but Ouside, On Batteries, I'll Have

MUSIC all day at a moderate to LOUD volume using the Victor RC-550 !!!

Do you operate your Portable's on Batteries?

It's the only Way I rate these Boombox's

radio.raheem - 2011-11-15 07:26

I had the 8600 outside on batts james....it blew my mates window glass out can an m90 550 do that

ghettoman - 2011-11-15 07:29

my nicest sounding boxes..Pana Dt680,Jvc Pc5,Pc55,Sharp GF9500,Philips D8644,GF999 and maybe jumbo, others sound ok but not outstanding, but their looks make up for that..some i like to listen to,others i like to look at,some dont sound great but i had one or wanted one when i was a wee 12 year old lad in 1981/82..

ghettoman - 2011-11-15 07:31

james,i never run mine on batteries, and they never see outside, they would get stolen in about 5.1 seconds lol..

radio.raheem - 2011-11-15 07:37

ill givee you an example paul lad.....just had the best egg on the planet on for about 2 hrs....the pana dt707.....man it was ok the sound at first...then it became a bore to listen to....not much warmth....put the 970 on....it oblitorates it much warmer sound....and it's a joy to listen to...and it's not even on full bass.....the dt707 to be honest is prolly more suited to cd than tape

deliverance - 2011-11-15 07:39

saxonman - 2011-11-15 09:28

SANY0088

saxonman - 2011-11-15 09:30

I love the M70 but i use my snayo 9996 or the hitachi 8600 more they have a better sound speeshli the sanyo!! but nothing beats the M70 for raw bass !!! cypress hill sounds like it should !! It's just insaine in the membrain

radio.raheem - 2011-11-15 09:44

Get your crown 850 then you will know what bass is.....one of the most disapointing boxes for me was the m75 (while it worked) but each to there own i guess

mitchelljames - 2011-12-28 10:47

Claret, did you do this trade with saxonman or that 850 still available??
