MrKeith sent me the speakers..all 6 of them for the Sharp 777 nicely packed. Cannot wait to install them. Thanks so much MrKeith.

Is this some thing folks here think I can do on my own? Or do I need a tech. I am not a techie and have never opened a boombox. The closest I have come is to open up computers to install hard drives or memory....

mrkeith - 2012-11-20 17:07

Yo Vincent, Im no Tech. But I took those Speakers out of a 777 i was using for Parts.

Super easy. Just upgraded all of mine.  There are service manuals online detailing how to remove the cover, but here they are in a few basic steps:

1.  Remove batteries if they are installed.
2.  Lay unit on its face using several towels or a pillow to protect the front of the unit from scratches, and keep presssure off the controls.  Remove all screws from the back that have a triangle pointing to them.
3.  Starting from the top part of the unit, slowly pull the back lid upwards.  There wilbe two antenna leads. TAKE NOTE OF WHICH COLOR LEAD GOES WHERE. If you get them backwards during re-installation, the labeling on the top showing which antenna is for which band will be wrong.  Remove the leads from the antenna board by pulking down gently.
4.  Lift the cover off a bit further, and you'll see the DC connector near where the power cord enters in. Remove this connector, and the cover will be free.

When removing the woofers, the metal support bar for left/woofer and left sub needs to he removed completely, as does the bar for the right.  YOU WILL NEED A SOLDERING IRON and a basic knowledge of how to solder to remove the woofers and tweeters, unless the gentleman was kind enough to supply them to you with the leads still attached, in which case it will be a simple like-for-like replacement.
