Need a Sharp GF9000 power supply

northerner - 2012-09-24 14:57

I need a power supply as my new box has an empty space where the power supply should be!!!!

I'm missing the whole part including the fitting where the figure of 8 power lead fits into.

Happy to pay a reasonable price as I'm trying to resurrect this beast because it was someone's kid brother's pride and joy but he sadly died so I'm on a mission from God (said in a Blues Brothers styley!)

When I opened the packaging I did think what a piece of junk I'd bought as it was filthy and bits were dropping off it!  but actually having stripped and scrubbed the front and checked inside I reckon its going to be a corker.  I messaged the seller about the power supply and he said it was being sold to a US buyer who'd asked him to test the supply (it was known to be damaged) and when it didn't work the buyer said not to ship it to save on the weight so the seller chucked it.  The buyer then didn't pay so he relisted it....thats the story anyway, and to be honest I believe him as I've had quite a few messages back and forth with him and he seems a good guy, plus he has a 100% rating and over 1000 transactions.

So I just need an awesome forum member to come up with a replacement or a scrap box!

Thanks for the offer, trouble is I don't actually know whats wrong with the M70 yet so don't even know if I need any parts

Plus I really want to get this Sharp going myself as my collection isn't very big yet and I wanted a 9000 as soon as I saw one, just didn't want to pay the normal asking price for them.  You don't want to sell me your parts 9000 do you?

northerner - 2012-09-25 06:12

Oh and the on/off switch looks a bit knacked too so if anyone has one!...though it might be salvageable

northerner - 2012-09-25 08:07

Parts box acquired already thanks to Chris/Deliverance who is an absolute legend!!!

deliverance - 2012-09-25 08:30

no problems si,   you have a few spare parts now     i will try hermes , arsehole force charged me £21 odd to send a box to stereo mad but that was tracked and insured .

northerner - 2012-09-25 08:45

Hermes is my courier of choice, cost about £9 to pick up the 9000 and that's with insurance and tracked online. They pick up from you so you don't even have to carry it anywhere. Had no damage done by them either and it's dead easy to book online. Go Hermes!!

Hey no worries dude i have 2 gf9000 anyway...well one is a the jap one. nice boombox...

good one dell for sorting things out

northerner - 2014-07-22 08:53

Update: I got a power supply from Del from a Sharp GF575 almost 2 years ago (can't believe its that long!) as its the same rating as the 9000. Well the rating was the same but the set up was completely different. I nearly started this several times but gave up scratching my head.

Well as I've had a couple of days off I decided to do a few long awaited jobs including this one. Took a few hours modifying the 9000 casing to fit the 575 supply but finally done it! Even got the socket to line up exactly with casing hole so from the outside you'd never know it was different. Works perfectly. Such a relief to finally tick this job off my to-do list!!

Hell is it that long ago !    Glad it's sorted .

northerner - 2014-07-22 09:01

It was at a 90 degree angle to the original so I had to build a platform for it to sit on. Used Perspex cut to fit, liquid poly and hot glue to fix the platform in place. Then I made a retaining plate to go over the top and be screwed in place (not shown). Took a lot of fettling to get it to line up perfectly.

You're not kidding! It worked on batteries so it's not like it couldn't be used, but yeh I was shocked when I saw how long it had been!

northerner - 2014-07-22 09:43

This is the 9000 I've finally finished
