JVC RC-838 Balance Slider... anyone?

justin.eagle - 2013-09-05 17:32

(I apologize for originally posting this under the wrong topic heading...)

Looking for a balance slider for my mighty 838. Have looked high and low on ebay and elsewhere. Would appreciate of anyone has one to sell, or has an idea where I might find one of these.

Thanks so much!

i might have one justin, where are you located? and can you get a pic of the part it self.

Hey, thanks for the quick response.

I live in NYC, and the guy who's fixing my box is upstate.

If you need it, I could ask him to email me a photo of the slider (it's actually a teamed potentiometer, not just the plastic piece on top) which I could email to you. A quick image search online didn't seem to offer up an image of the part.

Thanks again! Let me know if you need a picture.

OK. Finally got a couple of photos from my repairman. I hope this helps.

At this point I'm going to have to assume you are not finding this part.

If you indeed do have it please let me know, but if not I'd appreciate an affirmation of that so I can just have the repair finished (for now) by bypassing the balance control. Thanks.

That's it?.....

Be patient Justin.

Driptip is a top notch member and his offer to find one is better than nothing. He may be at work/ vacation ,indisposed or unable to respond at this time.

It would probably be better if you used the Dialog function (top right) for private messaging.

Good luck on your search and hopefully Driptip can help you. If not, you can be rest assured he's turned over every part in his inventory. He's helped countless others here..

Your tech should be able to rebuild that slider.  I've rebuilt so many of those, there's no reason your tech can't do it.  If he needs internal parts for the sliders, PM me.  I have some NOS alps sliders that I think will just drop in, but the resistor value is different and the knob stem might be longer and/or narrower so I recommend that the internal parts be used instead to rebuilt yours, which is what I do.

Appreciation for the responses. And apologies as a newbie here, as my tech was ready to wind up the service on my box, and he's been waiting on me.

So, I've sent him an email. Stomin, He's closed for the weekend. I'll let you know which internal parts he might need, or at least what his response is to this.

Thanks much all. Very much.
