i think i can confirm now that i got conned for £85..

before christmas i bought a marantz boombox,the seller was selling it for Retrohead aka Andyboombox aka Andy v,it was described as good condition but turned out to be a piece of crap, when it arrived i was shocked at its condition, i immedietly contacted the seller and told him i was'nt happy with the box,i said i wanted to return it for a refund,or to help retrohead/andyboombox/andy v out i said i would accept a partial refund of £30 to fix it up,the seller begged me not to file a claim towards him through paypal,and he said he would ring retrohead/andyboombox to tell him what i said,next thing i know i'm being accused of trying to rip him off,thinking i was trying to get money back and keep the box aswell,anyhow,in the end he said they were going to come down and collect it,but because of the conflict,i said to keep the piece they could collect it from my friends house,but he said andy was fuming and wanted to see me face to face (to cause trouble?) anyhow,it never happened,after further talks with the seller, he said was going to get "retrohead" AKA Andyboombox AKA Andyv  to give me a refund,because he said he sold it on retroheads Behalf..
i was'nt going to say anything until i descovered he done a bunk from this site now and is now posting on boomboxery as retrohead.he's now purchasing other boxes but at the same time i still have'nt got my refund,but it looks like i'm not going to get a penny back,its ok though,he can keep the money.i will use this as a learning curve,and i will just remember to Never Buy Anything From him,or Deal With him Ever Again !!

The Acid Spilled onto the tape decks main board,corroded lots of capacitors and transistors,Dead tape deck motor and the board and deck was ruined beyond repair !! but i was told personally by retrohead that he could hear the motor running (no way !)

i posted this before but i was asked by the ebay seller to remove it so i did,hoping i would get a refund..but now i'm sure i'm not going to get anything back,because he's posting on boomboxery,boasting his new box purchases,while i'm out of pocket £85,so this thread is staying this time !!

andyboombox told me he could hear the motor running and the deck just needed belts,thats a crock of lies because when i got it the motor was completey dead, when i took the deck apart,the board was full of acid from the leakage,and lots of capacitors and transistors were rotted off the board,the deck was unrepairable !!

Pic of the motherboard of the tape deck..where i have circled,there is some componants where the legs have rotted from the acid spill,that includes one of the dolby i.c's too..this deck would never work again ever,its way beyond repair !!

Its ok that i lost £85,but this is my sweet revenge,letting all you know what a shark he is trying it on with me and my money..

yes mate he said "please dont start a claim against me,i will get your cash back for you" i think possibly the plan was maybe to try to get me not to file a claim long enough to make it too late ..not sure about claiming now because its been a while and i cant start a claim after all this time for not as described,ebay would probebly say that i should have started a claim immedietly,but not sure,anyhow,at least everyone is aware of this now and will steer clear of dealing with them,so to me,it was £85 lost but well spent !

the reason i have resisted from filing a claim,its because the seller told me that andy was short of cash,i understand that and i feel sorry for him,i know he's always skint so paying back £85 would be a struggle for him,i am not rich but i aint that badly broke and dont need the cash asmuch,so i tried to back off abit (at first) but as time has gone on,i've just got more and more pee'd off about it and sent a couple of (losing my temper now) type of messages,now its come to a full stop and i'm getting no where now,just kept getting told to wait abit longer,wait even abit more longer,the guy said that andy was trying to borrow the cash off his dad to pay me back so i thought he must be real broke ! but then i saw him posting his new purchases of 2 boxes,think it was posted yesterday or day before..

at the end of the day i've lost out £85 and i wanted it back..i did'nt care where it came from,and now i'm actually beggining to think they could have both been in on it,or maybe andy did a deal with the seller and its the seller thats having me over,i really dont know anymore man..i'm just getting tired of it all..

sod them bm they dont dictate to you , send seller an ultimatum because if they think they have got away with some other poor sod will get rogered as well .

Don't let the situation get you that bend out of shape, just post on boomboxery, how he ripped you off and put the claim in ASAP!! No point in getting upset, it's not going to solve anything, plus your always going to have bad deals from time to time. Just do a video of the box and the damage and put on youtube with the seller id and item number, paypal will refunds your money quickly and even pays for shipping, just say you shouldn't have to pay for shipping for someone else mistake, when you put the claim in and they will sent you a shipping label. Took me only took one day for this item and won the case, then when it shows it's been deliver they refund the funds plus shipping costs back, ended up finding one in perfect condition for less, two days later.

we're all behind you here man, i think andy v is a nob personally from when he was on here, and i dont think you are.  i dont like that hes doing this one bit so i strongly urge you to give them 7 days to send you the money or start a case.  you have some strong leverage here, the seller knows it and i suspect (i dont know the seller at all so am assuming a bit here) is trying to put you off long enough so you cant open a dispute.    i bet when that elapses he wont even bother replying or telling you the moneys coming - it will have gone!

get on it youre not in the wrong here.  if he gets away with it he might do it again.  if he has to refund you then its lesson learnt to him!

the boombox is not worth the money period.

is very simple you are not happy with the box it was not fully described to you,

and you just want your money back, thats it very simple.

You have 10-60 days to open a dispute, just say you just look at it and do a video of the explaining the internal damage, then upload it to youtube and provide the link to Paypal when you open the case, just make sure you sent the case to customer service. Don't wait any longer and whatever you do, don't close the case till the issue is resolved, you can't reopen a case and leave a negative feedback.

ahaaa reli..now i remember that thread,and to think i tried to help him out with it aswell,so really i should have known by that thread that it was dodgy,but when i read his last post it said everything was ok and it did'nt have speaker rott,so i completely forgot about that until now,i really should have thought deeper about it before i bought it..but the speaker rott was'nt the death of it because i've refoamed lots of speakers,but when i got it,it was its condition and the unrepairable deck and all the rust that did it,thats why at foirst i offered to take a partial refund of £30 so i could by the foams and stuff to repair it....

I messaged the seller again last night and he said he's tried to contact andyboombox-retrohead and he just is'nt answering his phone anymore,he said andy owes him money too..

do you want this thread to be brought up on boomboxery to get his attention?  he would probably not want to get too much of a bad reputation there as well.

Andy man,i already have let them know,and all the members are not happy at all about it..i'm not happy about it either mate but when you constantly come up against a brick wall,its like,what else can one do ? i know i've been had over but least i've made everyone aware of them and their dodgy deals..i know its no compensation but least everyone knows about it now...

I liked andy met him personally......but i call for andy v to be BANNED after this....paul beanieman is a legend....and I have been banned from here for a much lesser reason

Dude,i'm sure your phsycic,i already did that and emailed the pics to him,that was after being accused of trying to rip them off e.g him and andy,i was accused of trying to get money back and keep the box,they accused me of everything,they had an excuse for everything,they did'nt beleve it had speaker rott so the only way i could prove it was to took them apart and take pictures,but when i did that they said they was'nt happy about me taking the speakers apart,then i had a look in the tape deck,found the main board had acid leakage from the battery compartment,so i took pics of the acid ruined main board,then they said they was'nt happy about that either,they just dodged left and right trying to get out of giving me a refund,i knew i was'nt going to get my money back,they had no intentions of refunding me,once i knew that i destroyed it and sent pics and said "told you i was'nt trying to rip you off"

But when i destroyed it,beleve me,i did the right thing,that was the best thing for it,it was a wreck and was'nt worth saving..i found that it came from the tip,it was there for a good reason and it should have stayed there,its where it belongs !!

ha ha left him a negative feedback,and he replied with "i offered a refund but you smashed it up with a hammer" sweeping the blame from him to me,yes good at that is'nt he..yes i did smash it up,but about a month after constantly having been took on a wild goose chase for nearly a month by them,empty promises of a refund,then he said one owed the other money and was'nt going to pay me until he got it off the other guy,total cock,they should just admitt they have ripped me off royal !! simple !!
