Need to replace the belt on this one.
Anybody know what belt [size] to get?

Square 1.0mm x 76.0mm. Have fun replacing it. You'll need a 25w soldering iron with small tip, a desolder pump, desolder braid and decent precision philips head screwdriver. The belt is under the PCB, which you have to desolder from the two relays and servo motor. I've replaced belts on a few HS-JX707 now, thanks to advice from DrMr2000 and an Aiwa service manual.

yep,,now i know there were a few tools missing from my little tool kit. sometimes it felt like my fingers had been cut off. now i know the reason why. i do have the 25 w soldiering gun anyway.

@Walkingman You'll probably find that you'll also need to replace the back up battery as well. It is a rechargeable lithium 3v coin battery located behind the up/down station button. Original part is a CL-1220 but these are no longer available. Nearest equivalent is the ML-1220-TJ1.

Thanks for all the advice.
Got a guy that works in my building and all he does is repair electronical devices and he has all the tools so I'll probably ask him to do the job. Where can I find the right belt for the hs-jx3000?

btw I just bought a boxed Sony WM-3 and I have a feeling that that one also needs the belt to be replaced. It looks brand new and runs great but it sounds just like it would sound when you shake a walkman really hard, it's almost like it plays a tiny bit too slow.

Any help on where I can find the right belts is greatly appreciated Smile
