portables for AA-cells and with Dolby C

mchen - 2010-05-24 02:19

Hi all,

I'm new to this board and already infected. Big Grin
Until now I own a Sony WM-DC2 (great!) and a Fisher PH-S1120 (not really worth speaking about). But I'm sure the total amount of my units will increase very fast next time...

My question is:
What are the portable players out there with Dolby C and for AA-cells without using a separate battery box (like most Aiwas do)?

For a newbie like me it is very hard to get an overlook easy, so excuse my stupid question. Wink
Any help is much appreciated!

Greets,

Martin

Welcome to the site Martin. That is not a stupid question at all. You have a great start with WM-DC2. I believe most of the earlier Aiwa's use a 2 volt lead acid add on battery which now do NOT hold charge if you find on and new is not available. Most had add on 2 AAA battery holder but often missing this or they are badly cracked and wont stay on player without tape. Here is list of Dolby C players I know of. There may be few more but very few were made. Any of Sony DD series will almost always have cracked center gear causing slow mechanical clicking and eventually gets worse with time not use. No replacement parts whatsoever available.

5. HS-PX1000

I got a AIWA HS-PC-202-MII (not MIII)
with dolby C
from the flea market for 15$.
A1 condition.

But it looks like it had alot of use as the head is worn.

Hey Transwave grand purchase for such price. Sad head is worn , checked partstore sadly no replacement head available. The Aiwa HS-PC202 is one of my top favorite to listen too of my 8 dolby C Walkman. Link to my Aiwa pictures with some great shots of new condition PC202 not MKII or III.
I totally love the very unique all ribbed design of the first model. Unlike any other exterior of Walkman I know.

Aiwa's

Mine has no "ribs"
Its the same chassis and buttons though.
oh ok the II and III are different case?
Ill get a picture posted here soon.

It plays ok in one direction but a bit weak in the other direction from the head being worn.

Martin, don't do it.
the dc2 is enough, you don't need more. once you start, it will become very difficult to stop.
buy a nice tape-deck and you've got a great combo.

19lexicon78 - 2010-06-11 11:13

bought another dc2. the seller told me, there isn't a click. yes, there is a click.
also some glue on the back. the dc2 hasn't been often used, head is in very good shape. dc2 is with leather case.
but still, paid 40 euro for it. i think 32-35 euro is a better price.
seller didn't contact me anymore to refund some euro's. hmmm

it's about time to buy a good deck.
dc2 and dd9 are the only ones i'll use

After finally solved all the problems that plague the players (such as the breaking of the gear, caused by the expansion of the metal inside, with regard to the wm-dc2) and bringing them to their full capacity, reducing the wow & flutter, improving the azimuth, (creating a double adjustment for azimuth to wm-dd9 who does not ), improving the level of output and so on. Running expect a test of listening, using headphones Grado SR-325i, the best one was the wm-dd9 closely followed by the WM-D6C, the third wm-dc2. The tapes were recorded with Dolby C from WM-D6C as player takes the second place. As a source directly connected to the WM-D6C, with the highest quality cables, has been used dvd changer Denon A11. It 'goes without saying that the tapes have played better than the original CD. How to listen without the vinyl crackles and pops.
