New member and questions

Hello !
I'm a new member from france (in advance, excuse me for my english Wink )
I'm not a true collector but I have a few walkman (mostly Sony and some other brand)
there were not purchased in purpose, my first walkman was a TPS-L2 copy back in 1982
and so far I almost kept every walkman I had (exept for 2 or 3 I've lost)
Actualy my small collection contains those babies :

SONY WM-F20
SONY WM-41
SONY WM-35 (brand new !!!)
SONY WM-2055
SONY WM-EX57
SONY WM-EX560 (my last walkman)
Aiwa HS-G09 (my favorite, still works solid !)
Aiwa HS-G37
and some other stuff (philips and cheaps no-name)

my question(s) refers to an old Toshiba I owned back in 1988
I bougth this one in New York in July (I was in holidays and wanted to buy an Aiwa
but the guy in the shop said this Toshiba was far better... I just choose to believe it Wink )
The only (few) things I remember were that it was a 5 band EQ, rather small
(at least as my HS-G09.. bigger than my WM-F20 for sure !)
It was black/silver, full metal (think so) and the five bands EQ had some big sliders
(waaaaaay bigger than my Aiwa sliders)
This is the only walkman that was stollen (in 1989) and I keep good memories of it
I've never found what model it was...

Is that tells you something ?

Now the other question...

What is this ?

written on it : Orson, made in japan, model : FE-820.... no serial, no date...
It gots a "silence" switch on the top that act like the hot-line button but without any microphone (or it doesn't work anymore)
It is way cheaper than a TPS-L2 (full thin plastic) but still works fine !

Thanks a lot ! Smile

Good Day Steph and welcome warmly to our community. Thats great you have held onto almost all Walkman you ever owned. As for the Orson I have no knowledge of this brand. In the early days many mfg. jumped on bandwagon and produced some very low costing budget players using mechanics of larger mfg. by license.

I have a large collection of Toshiba's one of my favorite brands especially the earlier ones.
I do not know of any Toshiba that came with a 5 Band EQ. Most all Walkman came with 3 maybe 4.
Not saying Tosh never made one but here are four models I have with EQ on them only 3 band. One has nice larger sliders. Are any of these familiar?

Here is a topic on my Toshiba Collection. It has not been updated in over a year but wide selection. You can also put in Search Toshiba see what comes up. Good Luck

thanks ! Smile

nice collection ! Your 4066 is damn cool !!!

I've made an intense research yesterday and I think I've found it !!

The 4075 looks pretty much familiar to me... The EQ really matches !
I don(t remember having a radio but I've found no trace of the same model without FM
anyway the earphones are exactly those one !

That would be hard to buy one Wink

That orson is the same as the philips skymaster 3!!! Smile

stephaneg - 2010-11-25 02:48

thanks walkgirl Smile but it seems bigger than the sm3 !
It looks more like a skymaster 4 (long box) anyway it may looks like any "cheap" walkman from the early 80's
this design is pretty much "generic" Smile

About the Toshiba, I'd really like to add it (back) with my two favorites Smile
