Mystery "walkman" type stereo, what might it be?

Hey Guys,

I was talking to my dad about a bunch of crap the other night and the topic turned to walkmans. He mentioned that he still has his old one and offered it to me if I wanted. I remember using it when I would mow the lawn because it had good volume on it and the Aiwa I had was a complete joke..This unit was probably one of the first units, but it was NOT made by Sony...It had a silver leather case, and the weirdest thing about it was that the AM/FM tuner was a cassette that you would pop in or out, depending on whether you wanted to play tapes or listen to the radio...

My memory isn't all that great, but I also remember it had 2 headphone jacks as well. Next time I have a chance I will stop by and pick it up...Does anyone know what this might be based on the tape tuner? Thanks for your help!

Matt

Hello Matt, there were actually many models of walkmans with what is called a TUNER MODULE cassette. The two headphone jacks narrow it down to these that I know of: Toshiba KT-S1 and KT-S2, KT-R1/R2 and the KT-VS1, AKAI PM-01 white, PM-R1,PM-R2, Sanyo, KLH, Cybernet, Aiwa. Definitely post some good pictures when you get it.
You may want to check my Toshiba Gallery out to see if you notice it.

Wow, that is quite a collection! And when I looked at the pictures in the link, I recognised it right away: Its the one in the back row, on the very far left....Wish they made them like that today, too bad the stuff being churned out is garbage today...

Thanks for pointing this out. Have a good week!

Matt
