So I've been trying to track down a HS-P02 mkii for a while now, couldn't help but notice that HS-F7's look really similar.

I was wondering what the differences were between the two models.

The HS-F07 can record; the P02MKII is a player only.  I'm not certain, but I believe the P02MKII and HS-P07 are pretty much the same.  Someone please chime in here if I'm off.

Aiwa was notorious for tweaking model numbers based on the target region of sale.

For various reasons I tend to prefer non-recording portables unless the recorder is of a very high quality (D6C).

Especially those that use permanent magnets, as some of them are held way too close to the tape, or in some cases, very easily activated.

I tend to disconnect erase heads/write protect switches on some of my units as another precaution.
