What Hi-Fi supertest 1984

mrp32dave - 2011-08-23 04:10

I posted a similar supertest from What Hi-Fi July 1981 in 2009, doesn't time fly, anyway I said in that post I would look through some more mags looking for similar articles, this is me just getting round to that I have have hundreds of mags dating from 1975-1990 and should really sort through them and catalogue them it's finding the time.

Anyway here's the test.

Here's a link to the first post:

In the same magazine there was also a personal stereo headphone test, so here it is.

Thanks very much for sharing

These pages show a very definite point in the development of the cassette walkman product - one I remember well...

Excellent as used to buy these mags. Now i know that the Sanyo M-G18D is the JJ-0 for a different market. No wonder i could never find these as kept trying and searching on JJ-0. Here is me hoping

These are great, and thanks for sharing. It's nice to see the Porta Pro's I purchased well over a decade ago are still in production.

I love stuff like this. If you have any more, I'd love to see them!

40hz to 6khz on the sony dd? that seems a bit horrible.

My guess is that the head was out of alignment on thier test sample. Cutting off at 6k will sound quite muffled, I think...

...or it's a mis-type. It's exactly the same result as the Saisho & this stuff was written by human beings    I still find the occasional typo in magazines such as Top Gear today, which is less forgivable with todays spelling/grammar checking - not something What HiFi writers would've had in 1984

I actually had this magazine back in the day, how odd.  Good to see the little Sanyo coming out on top.
