Walkman Headphones?

outland - 2012-06-10 06:13

The headphones I've been using for light listening from a mid 90's Walkman have completely lost their 'muffs', so I need to find a new pair.

I don't like to buy used headphones, so does anyone have a new Sony Walkman with it's unused headphones? Doesn't have to be a high-end model or anything. I don't even need the Walkman, just the 'phones.

The headphones I'm referencing are the ones we've all seen from the '80s and early '90s with a metal band and (occasionally colored) muffs. Like these:

Lightly used would be ok too.

If anyone has the original headphones (or case, if applicable) for the WM-10/II, I would be doubly interested.

If this is the wrong place to post this, my apologies.

Thanks all!

I the one who fix your WM-10II a few months back.

Do have a WM-F10II version, it has the radio, this one is in the box  with case and manuel and original headphones, it up for auction. Did also install new belt and clean contacts on it. Figure maybe you may be interested in it

You can buy the muffs on eBay for them cheap.

Hi retrodos, I hope you are doing well.

Of course, I haven't forgotten. The WM-10II is still working great and I've recommended you to others who were in similar predicaments. Thank you again.

I'll keep an eye on that auction. Having another pristine Walkman would be nice.

I would like to have a pair of Walkman 'phones with the original muffs though.

Maybe somebody has a pair they're not using? It would be interesting to find the light orange ones, like in the picture. I always thought those looked nice.

So no one has a pair like in the picture? They used to be everywhere a while ago, it seems.

Most have disappeared over the years. Those ones in the picture date from 1981-82 I think. They look like MDR-3L2's. Pretty rare. And expensive when they come up for sale. Try searching vintage Sony headphones on eBay. That's your best bet.

Wow, I had no idea.

Aren't the headphones in the picture MDR-4s? The Walkman looks like a WM-2, and I thought those came with the light orange headphones that looked like that.

If anybody has them, I guess you can name your price.
