I'm back and here is MY LIST UPDATED

coolcol - 2010-03-10 01:56

Hiya guys & dolls,

It took me under a year to collect these barring in mind that i probably sold another 50 or more in that time too. It does show you that they are out there and it is a matter of looking plus some i just don't get because i don't like them specially the early walkmans as i was only 6 years old when Sony brought out the TPS-L2 and that may explain that i don't really have an interest in them.
My era was the Aiwa HS-G08 onwards for a few more years after that.
Anyway i won't bore you anymore with my details.

On Saturday i had all my walkmans out on the floor and it took the whole floor and the count was about 175 which i never even knew i had that many. Shocking but will whittle that down to about 15 (hopefully) and i will try my best and delete as i sell them so you can see what is gone and still there.
Some models need repair and others not so.

Also i have listed the models in their colours but if they are not mentioned they will be either grey or black or silver

coolcol - 2010-03-10 08:01

Thanks for looking at the list.

They are in excellent condition but the box units like yourself will more than likely it will be sold when the numbers are coming down of them other units.

Last two "vintage" walkmans I bought off ebay were neutered half-busted crap.

I just want one with some POWER to replace my total-godhead blue Sony WM-EX888.

Coolcol, I'll paypal you money if you see me right here.

coolcol - 2010-03-11 00:28

Hiya,

i have a few that is working as i'll inspect them well when i get round to selling it.

I don't have an EX888 model though.

Not sure what type you are really looking for with features/colour etc etc

PM (private message) me with more details please,

Colin

sprague - 2010-03-11 02:27

hey there, can't find the PM icon so no worries.

Don't care about colour, "mega bass" rubbish, bells and whistles etc. Perhaps one that has the plain jack "hole" so any headphones can be used (I have Grado SR80's and they're belting murder with this thing)

Just anything like this 888 one, late 90's, I suppose?

I'm in Japan and bought it new for 18,000 yen but it was worth every cent.

drmr2000 - 2010-03-11 07:01

How about these? Since I am going to keep my EX1 that out of the box, figure they will be vey hard to find them all in the box

Really want those box units mostly the WM-EX1HG chrome (Box & KEEP)

OK, don't mind which one, how much would it be?

Although am trying to avoid that remote volume controller unit thingy, do you have any without that? They seem to siphon away the power.

Actually those unit with the remote controller does a better job with power management, of course most have a weak headphone amp, some are OK.

I have to go through them one by one to thoroughly check before selling it.

I am trying to get a picture of the EX888 so i can see if i have a similar one.

Colin

coolcol - 2010-03-12 08:52

Hiya,

I have now done the EX2 blue and that is up and running.

What prices you will give me as i'll be putting them on ebay soon.

May i ask you how to get the world tuner running on these and the fx808 type.

I can get it working on the FX909 and the GX711

Some boxed units are rare to find now-a-days,
I sold a few back in the days but sometimes the boxes where aged, so to keep them up is something else, and the question is, how long is someone going to hold on to a boxed unit, and keep them from aging like wine. I heard that some people sell just the boxes alone, can you imagine biding on a empty box??, Smile

coolcol - 2010-03-17 15:16

Sorry for late delay as i have been unwell in the past week.

I have listed one of the panasonic on ebay but other will probably go to the bin as it does not seem to work.

The Aiwa is that i have not got round to it.

Colin

sprague - 2010-03-17 16:05

Yeah mate, I think I'm following some of your auctions on ebay, here's hoping I land one!

lagoonluke - 2010-03-19 07:46

Do you still have the WM-F107 by any chance ?

What no DD Walkman in your collection ???

Its a shame !!!!!!!! Nod Yes

coolcol - 2010-03-23 10:35

That is right no DD's in my collection as i did have a few in the past as wondered what the fuss was all about with these. Apart from having a decent sound i did find these too basic for my liking and too bulky as well.

I got rid of them as fast as possible or consigned them to the dustbin.

Thankfully for the walkmans itself it went to hopefully happy people instead.

Colin

coolcol - 2010-03-27 10:36

Hiya i have the EX5 and condition wise is ok but works but need to check that again as it has not being used for a while.

Let me know if the Sony WM W800 is available and what you might want for it as it was the first Sony I used to tape concerts with and I'm feeling a bit "nostalgic".....

Jerry

sprague - 2010-06-20 23:48

Hey Coolcol, thanks for selling me those 2 Panasonic walkmans, man, they had the sound of doom! I say "had" because they got a bit wet recently and are now out of commission!!

So anyway, you got any more top quality units you want to sell me? Or anyone out there? Something that can perhaps finally replace my dearly-departed and conked out Sony WMFX888 in terms of awesome sound (it's been a long search and nothing's come close yet! Am I right in thinking the peak for sound quality was around 1995-1999?)

coolcol - 2010-07-01 06:02

Hiya,

sorry to hear that the walkmans i sold to you was conked out but i do hope that you have enjoyed listening to them.

I do find a lot of them are going that way but at least you can still enjoy them.

Not sure what type you want as it seems you are after anything from that era of 1995 onwards.

I have looked at the sony that gave up on you and yes i agree with you it is hard to find.

I try and find something in my collection.

Colin

sprague - 2010-08-26 05:57

hey fellas, I'm still after a replacement Sony wm-fx 888 (or similar quality - this one (below) cost me 18,000 yen new here in Japan in 2002 and was worth every yen!)

seems I have around 5 solid walkmans now but none of them carry a comparable punch.

will paypal you the $$!

ps, they have some really nice ones.....in China!

So keep an eye out as it will be unlikely that i will be collecting unless for certain models.
