First of all. Happy new new to you all. I trust, you all had a good christmas. Now, my problem. I havepicked up a rogue program, called "PERSONAL SECURITY", it`s a damned nuisance. It won`t let you remove it from add/remove programs, and, it comes with trojan`s, pop-up`s, viruses, the works. Does anyone know how to get rid of this damned thing, please.

Hit f8 when you turn on the computer, then hit safe mode with networking then let it bootup, then then download Malwarebytes run full scan restart computer in safemode with networking then run combofix download if you down have it, then run asquare run full scan, then your computer sure be fix, if it still runs slow you may have to do a full reload

Ric, yeah, this one is a ***** but it can be removed. The issue you may find is that the programme will not let you download any additional files, if so then you'll need a flash drive & access to another computer.

Here is everything you'll need to know plus easy steps to remove. - http://www.bleepingcomputer.co...ve-personal-security

this doesn't happen on a mac Big Grin

transwave5000 - 2010-01-05 20:05

Use a USB to IDE or SATA adaptor.

Connect your drive to another computer with virus checking software on it.

Than run a scan on the drive.

I have a eeepc Big Grin

wombat - 2010-01-12 16:17

Is this resolved yet? I had it on my kids computer. It would redirect my web page to all these dumb product search engines. It was so bad I LMAO. Really. Go to Boom box Museum, It would go to BBM then 2 seconds later go to a marketing search site for sewing machines, etc.
I tried a few things, in safe mode DL'ed a special Russian anti-virus program that was recommended. Nothing worked. Backed up the photos and reinstalled the OS. 40 minutes later I had ever thing CLEAN and back to normal.

*Macs don't have many virus attacks because there is not enough of them to form a critical mass to pass the virus. If we all had Macs we'd have same problems.

litfan - 2010-01-16 04:13

Hi. Nah, i bought a new laptop. Needed one, so, waited for the sales. Just need to get used to wndows 7 now. I`m gonna get the other fixed, at some point.

transwave5000 - 2010-01-16 12:44

this might help.
