not sure if this has been posted but top 10 all time fav songs IN ORDER and why.
Not so much of an "All Time Top 10 Songs" as it is a list of 10 songs that are favorites and that have wonderful memories.
-----------------------------
The Hi-Lo's - A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square (The first song I ever heard from my favorite vocal group and just a beautiful song.)
Frank Sinatra - One for My Baby (Bill Miller's piano playing is legendary and, come on, it's Frank! I got to see Frank in Evansville, Indiana in 1992. Bill Miller was there and sounded just like he did in 1958. Unforgettable!)
Mantronix - Get Stupid (Was one of the songs that got me interested in mixing records and making my own music. Nobody comes close to this style anymore. Mantronik is the King of the Beat.)
Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls (Reminds me of the summer of 1986 and my best friend Mike.)
Ennio Morricone - Playing Love (Damn near makes me cry every time I hear it. Friggin' beautiful!)
Alice in Chains - Would (Great song for driving and releasing tension!)
Boston - Long Time (Reminds me of my half-brother, Scott. He lived with us for a while, but we never got to hang out much. He was 9 years older and had better stuff to do than hang out with an 8 year old kid.)
Twilight 22 - Electric Kingdom (First electro song I ever heard. That was 1983. Been lovin' it since.)
Randy Travis - Forever and Ever, Amen (Reminds me of the greatest teacher ever - Mr. Gary Harvey. He loved Randy Travis' music and would often play guitar and sing to us after class. He could also play a mean "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas.)
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man (Reminds me of a dear friend who left this world way too soon, Guy Cox. May he rest in blissful peace.)

5) Newcleus "Jam on it"
6) Strafe "Set it off"

8) Freestyle "Don't stop the Rock"
9) Hashim Al Naafiysh "The Soul"
10) Kraftwerk "Numbers"
Ps: I do enjoy music that doesn't have robo simulated voices involved LOL
Since I was heavily into funk and soul during the boombox era, these are the tracks that have sentimental value to me and regularly get airtime on my boomboxes.
Here's my Top 10 Boombox Track list:
Flashlight - Parliament: Oh yea, George Clinton and his crew at their best. Absolutely wicked bassline and just a totally infectious groove. I can never shut this track off in the middle and whenever I hear this it reminds me of hangin out with my friends 28 years ago.
Shake Your Pants - Cameo. This song is all about classic funk, complete with killer vocals and breakdowns. Yea, there's other Cameo tracks that were huge, like Word Up, She's Strange and Candy (which I all like) but Shake your Pants is my Cameo boombox favorite.
The Message - Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five: One of the best rap songs of all time.
Reach For It - George Duke: This track was actually a jam session that got recorded and make it onto an album. If you've heard it and know the rest of the songs on this list, then you know why I included it. If you're not familiar with it, go find it and give it a listen. Deep, dirty, late night funk!
One Nation Under A Groove - Funkadelic: Another George Clinton classic that will never die! Long live George Clinton!!!!
Lets Start the Dance - Hamilton Bohannon: I have dropped this in the middle of a house set and it still rocks a crowd. First time I heard it was on a boombox.
Atomic Dog - Yea, I know... so what if I'm a huge George Clinton fan. Leave me alone.
Fantastic Voyage - Lakeside: Just a great song with a fun message.
Peanut Butter - Lenny White & Twennynine: Another one of those sleeper funk tracks. Mindless vocals with a deep underlying grooveline. A fun track intended purely to make you dance. No more, no less.
Play At Your Own Risk - Planet Patrol: Take Kraftwerk's Trans Europe Express, Africa Bambaata's Planet Rock (both of which could be on this list as well) and mix it up with a cool vocal and you end up with this track.
