Mobile Grail Museum

redbenjoe - 2008-09-24 19:00

at the dire requests of distinguished members. Eric and Sinister

the ONLY picture ever taken of my friggen trailer Smile is to follow :

have lived here for 13 fun years (its like CAMP)

and the one consistent fact is that NOBODY ever takes pictures of their trailer homes Laugh Out Loud

there are 500 other trailers here 'in the park' and i have yet to see anybody out in front of theirs ---with a camera !! Big Grin it just never happens.

and then --WHO would ever post one -??

---------------------

also --at E.S.T. --its dark here now -

so then you ask---well, how did this photo ever evolve ??

well --here is the exact true story --:::

our own third most prominent s2g member was most involved--

--he lives over 200 miles away . and i dont remember him ever coming over here to take pictures of our trailer Smile
however ,
because i used to buy all the 'beauty boxes' left over from his yard sales --
he had my address.

and a few months ago --i get a PM from no less than UNCLE ED ENSKANKER --with nothing but this picture in it !!

so -be careful Laugh Out Loud
ed has secret access to this exclusive global spy program --that has photos of your trailers, your boxes and your porn collections !!

-------------------

anyhow --notice that the all poor slobs all around us -- have tiny 12 foot 'single-wides' with hardly any boxes Laugh Out Loud

while we are 'king of the hood' with the gigantic double-wide --and about 30 grails inside !!

here also -is an old link to the contents (plus and minus 1/2 dozen grails)

thanks for looking !!! Big Grin

If that realy is yr home ira yr in lugshury compaired to me well done lad.

jt - 2008-09-24 19:14

Yup, that's the Google Earth street view... its scary, eh?

Dat shore's a mighty comfy lookin' doublewide ya got fer yerself, Ira...!

eric - 2008-09-24 19:33

Ira, that looks like a great place. Palm trees blue skies and it sounds like your not to far from the beach. Nod Yes Plus no lawn to cut. Your collection is a winner too! Lot's of good looking boxes. First time I've seen it. Looks like you have most of them on shelving, off the floor and nicely displayed so they can be used. So is this going to be a hands on museum? Big Grin

redbenjoe - 2008-09-24 19:39

thanks tim and jt and eric

its sort of a cool blast to live in one of these things --
but its about 80 yards away from the beautiful and dangerous Atlantic ---

so this entire community could look alot like galveston texas right now --
and it would take a storm less than 1/2 as mean as hurricane IKE --to wipe us all out --

there is NO insurance of any kind available at ANY price here --

so it all 'living on luck' Smile

and not the adviseable spot to store grails Laugh Out Loud

So in the best interest of preserving these grails for generations to come....you can store them at my house....no charge. Nod Yes

redbenjoe - 2008-09-24 20:07

eric --the few rednecks around here that actually have a brain Big Grin

also have 'off-campus' inland storage lockers --
the air conditioned places are $$ expensive --

but that IS our insurance Smile

fatdog - 2008-09-24 20:51

If you're ever facing a hurricane again, bring your collection up to my uncle's place in Leesburg or Tony's place. If all of Florida is targeted, bring 'em to Freddie's house. Nod Yes Wink

moncheeto - 2008-09-24 22:03

i just live a few blocks away Big Grin

redbenjoe - 2008-09-24 22:40

yeah right --
like over the tracks !! Laugh Out Loud

isolator42 - 2008-09-25 02:43

That street-view thing on Google maps is a bit of fun...
I'm guessing your hoping that sea-levels don't rise too much? Smile

btw, just saw your collection over here - very nice, grails all over the place.

redbenjoe - 2008-09-25 06:08

thanks iso --

there is actually a very high surf advisory --right here -- in 90 minutes !!

and -- none of us ever need to see the floating grail pictures Smile

- 2008-09-25 06:25

Gee the surf for me me is over 90 miles away ... Roll Eyes Eek
I survived IKE except for lack of electricity and power for hungry computers dsl worked just fine all thrugh ike just no power for cpu and all my grails only suffered a little lack of a/c along with me ... Frown

gluecifer - 2008-09-25 07:08

Really good to see you got through Ike unscathed James.

Killer stuff Ira, great collection and location, you're a role model for us all. Well, me anyway.

Rock On.

redbenjoe - 2008-09-25 07:14

redbenjoe - 2008-09-25 07:18

right up until this last post -- my own fourth favorite role model --was sinister !!!

sinister - 2008-09-25 07:19

i wanna be #1!!! Big Grin

walkgirl - 2008-09-25 07:22

That is a bungalow! Eek Smile

only wealthy peoples have bungalows here!

gluecifer - 2008-09-25 07:28

hahaha, well low goals lead to less disapointment.

Rock On.

redbenjoe - 2008-09-25 07:32

walkgirl !!!! -- no rich folks live in these Smile

i know you cant tell from the picture --
but these things are not really attached to the ground --
instead they are delivered on big ,long flat-bed truck frames -- with AXELS and wheels --

then the wheels get removed --

and then they 'sit there' on concrete blocks --hoping to not get blown away by a big storm Smile

the reasons that they cannot be permanently attached to the earth --
is :

they are not built that way --
and most do not have deeds to the land --we are all on monthly -- or long leases-
---------

do you have these mobile homes in holland ?

masterblaster84 - 2008-09-25 08:53

Laugh Out Loud Funny Ira, put the wheels back on that trailer and you could tour the country with the first ever Mobile Grail Museum. I wonder if you would sell tickets to anybody who isn't an S2G member.

yes but you forgot about his off property storage of all of his ( other grail's ) they would have to go along as well to complete him Wink Cool

redbenjoe - 2008-09-25 09:57

MB Smile --
you forget how super gorgeous those original AIRSTREAM trailers were/are from the early '60s -

imagine one of those 26 footers --all filled with some polished aluminum box grails --

like the tosh S90 or the sanyo 920, etc

and --that could become a $$ lucrative touring museum !!

like really --
or maybe Big Grin

masterblaster84 - 2008-09-25 12:56

The old Airstreams are a work of art themselves, I think you might be on to something. Big Grin I don't think the woody would pull it though, you would need the T-Bird pulling that trailer for a nice touch.

True James, Ira could save money on storage by packing that trailer full of grails. Nod Yes

sinister - 2008-09-25 13:02

we sell airstreams @ my job

redbenjoe - 2008-09-25 13:39

thats cool , sin

they are now making the 2008/9 airsteams to looks just like their original 60s models --

except -- some of the interiors are all aluminum -- instead of that old cloth/fake wood/vinyl crap

these are spectacular.

sinister - 2008-09-25 13:42

yeah ours have super fancy stuff in them

kid.sensation - 2008-09-25 13:54

so, Ira is our very own "trailer-queen"?Smile

Laugh Out Loud

skippy1969 - 2008-09-25 19:29

Here is my "Redneck heaven" Ira. My mobile grail museum. Is your trailer bigger than mine????? Big Grin

redbenjoe - 2008-09-25 20:31

skippy --you are the mega-redneck --
thats enormous !
over twice mine -- SWEEEEET !! Big Grin

redbenjoe - 2008-09-25 20:50

as for the safety of grails --stored in 'flood zone' trailers --- Smile

these pictures may be hard to believe --

they are all from my trailer park at TONIGHTS high tide !!!

and the last two shots === the ultimate redneck pictures (my friends place) Laugh Out Loud

- 2008-09-25 21:08

fairly brown water there ...

sinister - 2008-09-25 22:30

keep tha WOODIE safe!!!!!!

redbenjoe - 2008-09-25 22:40

the woodie floats !! Smile

and i move it to 'high ground' so all the bearings . etc dont rust --
thats all salt water Frown

sinister - 2008-09-25 22:41

YAY!!!

jt - 2008-09-25 22:49

Bummer you flood so easily...

Is that because of TS Kyle way off your coast?

Seriously, though.... If a storm ever evacuates you from there, I'm about 3 hours west of you and I have a generator for our boxes!

redbenjoe - 2008-09-25 23:53

thanks for that kind offer JT --

and yup -- this 'extra' high tide has everthing to do with that storm 1000 miles away !! Mad

awesome day for my kid and his surf buddies --
8 foot clean swells -- all day long = another school/work holiday Laugh Out Loud

skippy1969 - 2008-09-26 16:02

WOW Ira,that sucks man!!! Mad Frown

monolithic - 2008-09-26 16:45

Seriously hope you have your evacuation plans ready to execute...
The thought of boomboxes floatin' down the street sickens me!

redbenjoe - 2008-09-26 19:09

mono -- as bad as hurricanes and over-high tides can be --
at least they are predictable --so we do have several hours --to move boxes up --or out !!

i feel much worse for the earthquake and tornado crowd --who dont even have 15 minutes warning-

they and their boxes are screwed !!
