For the past 2 years now, we were warned about the Coming of a New Age in TV: DIGITAL!!! For the past 50 years we were watching TV via Analog Signals.
In the 60's (my generation) TV switched to Color Format, and everybody and their grandmothers, ran to the Department Stores to buy a Color TV, and the Black and White ones were used as Furniture or Decorations.
On February 17, 2009, this Great Event had to be postponed because too many people were STILL NOT READY". Let's stop and think about this for a second. After watching TV Commercials advertise the coming of DTV, 50 times a day, everyday for the past 2 years, WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE ARE THESE THAT SAY THEY'RE STILL NOT READY???
Are they living in a cave???
But the "Govern-Ment", decided to give these people a Break, and extend the transmittion date to June 12, 2009 to give the "IGNORANT" people time to get ready, and to come up with the funds to make more of the $40 discount coupons.
Now here we are on the 10th day of the DTV Switch, and what do you guys think of it???
Let me tell you, since getting rid of Cable and Dish Network because of the outrageous prices, I decided to go DTV LAST SUMMER, because I knew it was coming!!!
Believe it not, it's not bad!!!
It's just like having a Basic Cable or Dish Network Package along with all of your local stations!!! There's a Cooking Channel, a Sports Channel, a Video Channel, a Channel that shows Old Skool programs like TV LAND, a Channel for Women like LIFETIME, and a bunch of Channels just like DISCOVERY CHANNEL!!! The best part about it is that you NO LONGER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A MONTHLY BILL!!!
The picture is much clearer, and it can make ANY TV look like an HDTV!!! The sound is much better, and due to the fact that I have my Convertor Box hooked up to my DJ Equipment, it sounds almost Theatrical!!!
The ONLY problems that I have with DTV are the Pixilations due to WEAK SIGNALS and BAD WEATHER!!! And it always seems to happen on the Good Parts!!!
BUTI've experienced the same things when I had Dish Network, so I really can't complain!!!
I'll tell you what, with this current Economic Crisis, more people are going to get Hip to DTV, and once they realize that they can watch some of the same programs with the exception of HBO, SHOWTIME, etc., and not have to pay a monthly bill, the Cable and Satellite Dish Companies are going to be in
BIG TROUBLE!!!
Can you imagine Comcast or Dish Network filing for Bankruptcy???
It can happen!!!
What do you guys think???
