radio.raheem - 2011-02-18 17:11

As it says on the tin...whats the spec of your current pc?

Ill go first....this pc has taken me a long 6 hard months to build and has been very frustrating at times and is the reason or at least part of the reason im so highly in debt...but i have just finished her tonight and she is currently running perfect

Os windows vista 64bit ultimate...
Hd 1tb
cpu i7 950
Ram 12 gig upgreadable to 24 gig..
motherboard evga classafied 4 way sli....had to flash the bios to run my G cards this was very frustrating as I had tried everything else you can think of to get them to work before flashing the bios wich finally fixed the problem..

Graphics cards...4 times Gtx 480...what a beast

Psu 1500w thermaltake

case... coolermaster haf x...

anyway thats my spec and its been a long hard jorny to get there but well worth it as its my first ever home built quad sli setup and I have probbly saved over £3000 building it myself... so guys whats your spec...?

Hi Raheem,

You're running four graphics cards?    That's a pretty powerful machine!  But you saved a lot of money by doing it yourself.  You must be a gamer?

Here is the US we have newegg.com which is tops for PC parts.  I built mine in 2009:

Intel i7-920 quad-core CPU
Corsair XMS3 6GB (2GB x3)
EVGA E758-TR motherboard
EVGA GeForce GTX 260 video card
Corsair 620HX 620-Watt Power Supply
Two hard drives, one for OS another for data
Dual-boot Linux Mint and Windows 7 Home Premium
27" LG Monitor

with an Antec P183 case.  The case was expensive but well worth the money.

Thats a nice set up paul...yup im an avid gamer hence the 4 cards....The sad thing is this machine was a world record breaker last year..It has already been superseeded...and in 2 yrs direct x 12 will be out, so thats when i will be building my next system...Im already toying with the idea of upgreading to the 980x cpu when i get the money saved...
