brutus442 - 2012-01-17 09:53

If I'm in the beer mood, I'll enjoy a Sleeman Cream Ale. Nice on a hot summer day and not too filling, but for after dinner or at parties, it's a Hennessy Cognac.

Silky smooth and you put that with a Cohiba cigar you're at the threshold of Nirvana.

Gave up the cigar's recently though.....kids kept pestering me

Strictly fine French red wines for me

penge - 2012-01-17 12:21

Got a malt in my right hand at the mo.
Other wise it' Sussex Bitter down the local.
The last of our French wine is coming to an end 1.50 a bottle
we used to pay on the beer runs, but the has hit a real low.
So it's just about the same price here now.
When you take in the diesel and ferry fare.

Nice to see some Newcy brown there Hugo

My favourites are:

- Decent ale, preferably on draft (or gravity), in a proper pub (not a noisy all-standing bar) with no kids: Spitfire, Tanglefoot, London Pride, Youngs Ramrod & Special. Oh & lager (Becks, etc.) with a curry.

- G & T: avoided for decades 'cos I thought it was a poncy drink. Probably still is, but it tastes nice.

- Kia Royale: now this is a properly poncy drink (champagne with creme de cassis), still tastes good if made with cheap Cava. Only reason I'm aware iof it's existance is that it's the wife's favourite. Slips down far too easy.

- Vodka & Coke: last resort

Ginger beer for me. When i was allowed to drink, it was real ale, special brew, guiness, trophy bitter. Trophy, was nectar for me. On draught, it`s beautiful stuff.

litfan - 2012-01-18 12:25

I can just see, agentorange, sniffing the wine, having a taste, then gobbing it out.

By happy accident I discovered Oranjeboom whilst looking for a good deal in my local supermarket a good few years ago. One of the few beers that tends to not give you a hangover. It tasted very clean and refined, blowing regular beers out of the water. Sadly I think though things have changed for this brand..

Living in the Caribbean I can't complain about hot sunny days....but....there's nothing like a chilly rainy cloudy day...a lit fireplace.........good music....good drinks.......

to stay on topic: luv good beer and wine......I abandoned sugar, so many drinks aren't for me...
