Interesting. It would be good if they start making quality audio tapes again.

Don't know of any High Bias cassette sources but Asia still has manufacturing units:

Nice article thanks for posting. Naturally I clicked a firm Yes on the poll! Shame it was mainly about computer use, would be great to hear about a mini tape revival for audio

i love the toronto sun, hemingway started his career there & i enjoyed reading it when i was downton --not in hemingway's times of course this said, i too use tapes and find them reliable. but it seems to me that the article refers to a temporary technology aimed at maximizing quantity rather than quality--sadly

Thanks for doing topic and link to story. Agree that it is sad that there still are a pretty sizable number of users today of quality cassette tape. Metal of course would be grand if someone would mfg. new stock of but a great CrO2 would be great too.
Here is link to USA company saying they sell new mfg. cassette tapes although no metal.

Picked it up last week from www.tapeheads.net Read a lot of guys there use/like a lot the performance of the Studio Master Super Chrome tapes.
Also a American higher end quality cassette producing company that went under early 2000 was orig. another company then came under AMPEX 60's to 1995 ownership then it became Quantegy. Orig. began production of magnetic tape in mid 40's for US military. They are trying to start company up again .. worth a watch over I think !
