music magpie

i still have a big cd collection even though i rarely listen to them these days, they are stashed in a cupboard,i would never let them go as i did with most of my vinyl when i was younger,i was wondering if anyone else has seen and been tempted by those music magpie advertisements on tv for your cds...why do they want to buy all your outdated/formatted music?

I went onto their site and tapped in a few bar codes from my CD's. With few exceptions they offer a derisory amount, 30p is typical from my experience. I would think a lot of these then end up in your local Poundland in the Replay CD section.

Hey Bison.

We don't have  Magpie here in Canada, but we have a cd Re-Play store that buys used CD's (for pennies to the dollar of course) and I have been tempted to unload some of my more infrequently used CD's but I can't pull the trigger......I know I'll regret it later for some stupid reason

you'd be better off keeping them

or sending the good ones to me

Look out for a nice cd dukebox separate unit like a kenwood. Mine holds 200 and sits as part of the main hifi. I also have a single player but it hardly gets used now I have the carousel.
Something like this one.

Hey Bison, im the same as NaK D. I tried a few bar codes and and was mostly being offered 20/30p per CD.

Plus, I don't think they send the cash until they have received the discs and are happy with the condition.

Why don't you list them here for a quid each ?

i wouldn't get out of bed for 30p....it would cost more than that to send them

i had a feeling they would only offer a pittance, there is no way i would let them go for double/triple that,i reckon cds will only appreciate in value the same way vinyl has.

It would be good if they did! But alas they are still popular and have sold billions I would think so not too rare yet .
