Cool! They are so good, i own three pairs of them! Two black and one red pair.

I remembering buying a set of these back in 1984. They were really cool. They came in a denim pouch with different types of input connector. I paid about 50 bucks back then. I belive koss still makes these headphones .The sound on these were amazing. Played them on my family's hifi and used them on my sony walkman

Like Samsnite, I own three pairs: two blue and one black with the fabric-covered cord.

Those of you in the USA will be happy to know that yours breaks, you can mail them in to their service center in Milwaukee and have them repaired (the two times I've done this, they've sent new phones)...you just cover the shipping cost.

Yeah, these always been my favorites, i own almost all the editions, including the 25th anniversary!!, that's 7 different ones, first pair i owned was in the 80s, but did sent them for repair or replacement twice...so those ive had since the 90s...i have the two red variations, the yellow, the all white ones, the all black best buy exclusives, the ones im looking for are the "Porta Pros Jrs"....and the "Porta Pro 2" which is a circuit city exclusive...to complete my collection....yeah your right paul, the first time i posted the article i forgot the second page,....

The black ones you own Paul is i believe the best buy exclusive....there's actually 2 all black versions....they're called black beauties...one with an all black cloth cable only sold  through best buy but not made anymore so there are pretty rare now, also now that i recall they were sold by urban outfitters too but with a distinct retro box....now the other black beauty is the European version with the black cloth cable but with white dots on them....@at gagaeyes...wow it first came with a denim pouch that must be rare....

Thanks for the scans Blaster, I owned a pair of Porta Pro's back in the early 90's. Can someone post a pic of the black version, and the 25th anniversary version?

In full agreement here you just cant get a better pair of daily slap on headphones.  For under a $100 bucks they are my vote for best bang for buck.. by far.  I love bass and these deliver it in thunder with right bass boost player ( too many when boosted muddy's the sound and worsens when turn up).  They are shy on the crisp highs  but over all great and love the bass so much.  Anywho... good phones to use when not using dolby which I usually don't unless its C.  They don't produce the  hiss very well... VIOLA... the perfect headphone for cassette Walkman !   I have two pair, the cloth cable is by far the best never tangles and doesnt get hard with time. 

   Stereo2go definitely right I have sent one pair back and got new one for just paying shipping.. and you can do it as many times as they fail... which most of time they dont.  Course anyone offering a warranty like that you know it must take a beating and keep on pounding

Yep, you're right--I got the Best Buy specials.  I don't know why they stopped selling them.  When did they make the red and white versions?

I had a pair of SportaPros but lost them.  They were great for outdoors while running around--you could fold the headstrap back by the neck & ears.

I've got an old Koss catalog that I'll dig out and scan...stay tuned.

not sure why they stopped maybe a limited edition to the store for a certain amount of time.....the red and white ones are exclusives in Europe mostly in Scandinavian countries i think they've been out for a few years now....they also have a yellow and another red version only sold overseas as well....i also had a pair of sporta pros..gave them away as a gift, but am getting another pair....another from the porta pro family is the KTX PRO1...they share the same drivers as the porta pros....yeah wow would love to see those Koss catalog scans....
