TRK-8200 - belt - what did i do wrong

atomtan - 2010-04-15 06:01

Hi, I attempted a drive belt change on this Hitachi box today. The belt matched the one that had come off the motor pully. I assumed that the route the new belt should take is a simple circle taking in the motor pully, around the centre spindle pully (white one) and then around the pinch wheel pully. All seemed great until I tried the tape and the centre spindle runs in the opposite direction to the pinch roller and unwinds the tape! Rather than me do trial an error and cause any more mayhem, can anyone tell me that I did wrong? (it worked perfectly before the old belt came off).

if it worked perfectly before you attempted to change it, why did you bother Confused

Thanks Lav Loo - what I meant to say is it worked perfectly until the belt came off a month ago. Unfortunately I had never cracked the case when it worked to see how it is routed and the service manual tells you everything but the route of the belt.

Chances are the belt runs on the inside of the "spindle pulley" not the outside. So it spins the opposite direction.
