andyboombox - 2010-04-29 05:04

hey all
about to inherit a toshiba 8710 s from a good friend of mine-only trouble is he says it doesnt power up.
im obviously keen to get her going again, but have you guys got any ideas to what might be wrong? Frown
ive never done an electrical repair before myself, so would probably get a pro to look at it.but would prefer to know if it might be something simple before i take it and get ripped off!!!!!!!!!
ideas please Smile

well that,s up to you, but i don,t see the point in taking busted boxes if you don,t know how to fix them, unless of course it,s a big showy one like the c100f, give me that as dead as you want Laugh Out Loud

ive tried it on ac power, and batteries, pretty much as si said he had-and nothing-does this thing have internal fuse-if so where, and is it easy to change?

Could be bad capacitors that dry up and shorted out, could have taken out the voltage regulator, could be simple as a bad switch were the plug goes in, no way to tell without looking at it.

thanks for the advice, drmr-i really love the look of this unit so i am keen to get it fixed!
