Not 100% sure but I believe on a linear tracking turntable its ran with a gear EekMaybe gear is stripped. That would be 1st thing I would check Smile

Hi Marc

I know your post was put on a while ago and I hope that you are still on this forum

did you get the problem fixed with your vz? was the problem that the record would play for a very short time on a and b mode but wouldnt play the record to the end ,if this is or was the problem please let me know if you fixed it as I seem to have the same problem

regards neil

its usually the little belt that controls the arm, that probebly worn and slipping, needs changing..

neil - 2012-05-08 08:40

many thanks do you know where I can get these and is it a fairly easy job to do

I tried earlier to get to the mechanism  by removing the 3 screws inside the record deck door to remove the outer cover ,but still seemed to be held by the middle of the door somewhere .I thought id try to clean the wires to see if this would help but got stuck and didnt want to force and break

many thanks neil

hi neil, the belts are not that hard to get hold of,just go on ebay and type in cassette belts, they sell them in sets of 10,one is bound to fit,as for taking these apart,if you dont know what you are doing,it is a massive job..

anything..even the simplest job on these is a massive task,if i were you i'de take it to a repair shop..i have a vz2000,i hate it,its too massive, and way too heavy,i was going to ebay it but i dont want to ship it because the sheer weight and size of it..

hi there i have the vz 2000 i have put new belts on one on player disc and tone arm , it plays for a while then starts to stick i was wondering if anyone can help

undertheradar - 2015-11-05 08:45

Haters always going to hate, move along.

nevone - 2015-11-05 13:39

Edward, check the grease on the mechanism, after all these years it might have become sticky or just plain cement. If that is the problem, clean and grease again.

edward.james - 2015-11-07 15:31

thank you nevone i have done that ,and fitted a new belt i think the belt i had on was a little bit tight it is working great now thanks for that advice

Interesting read on this. Anyone know the tone arm belt size. So I can order one.

Be very grateful
