RX-DT680 - Decks needs service ...

success - 2008-10-02 07:50

I've bougth a Panasonic RX-DT680, since the good revisions I've read here.
It's a really nice machine, plenty of power, perfect bass and highs.
The BBX is in a nice condition ... works fine even CD with very scratched CD-R !!!.
But deck don't work. Only Rec deck work on the < direction. Playback deck don't work, only makes a little click sound. No motor is heard also.
I bring to life again many boxes, but I think that's a hard one .. so I decided to get the BBX serviced at a Panasonic autorized service (of course). One of then (the most serious) said that some kind of "weel" breaks usually to protect the whole mecha against major damages.
But the "weel" is not longer avaible ...
I'm a little worried about the BBX, it would be great that at least one deck work ...

How easy is to work with the RX-DT680, to take the mecha apart and to work over the mecha itself.

I get the schematics, and also I'll try to do some change in order to swap the aux-out in aux in. So I'll need to take appart at least the main board. Is it easy ?.

Does some member have a service manual for this BBX ?. I think, I'm going to take the risk to service it ... I hope only belts going to be needed ... Wink

Thanks for your help

Pedro.

Success PM Ramon he will help you on this issue it may be the sleeves which are located on the top of the decks. Simply it could use a little cleaning with a nail filer. Wink

pedro just take a pic of the wheel so we can see what you well be looking for the 680 is not a hard box to work on it has a front board and middle board for amp, power supply is to the bottom and on the top is the cd mechanisim,,and i belive that the one cassette 750 950 series parts of of that box may fit and those you can find very cheap on ebay

Thanks Ramon !!!

It's a very nice BBX, so I'm a little frigthened to work on it. It doesn't happened with cheaper boxes =). But a DT-680 appears here (Argentina) once in a blue moon.

It was exepnsive when launched, compared with "bigger" systems. But If you ask me, it sound better than almost big systems of the era.
But people ask price first, then talk about perfomance ...

When I open the BBX I'll send you some pictures of it.
