National RX-7000 FF and RW don't work

sikorsky - 2008-08-25 13:31

Hi. I found that FF and RW don't work in my National RX-7000. Cassette can play, but when I press FF/RW - it try to operate and stop. All diodes do work. What is the problem? Belts? If it is belts - who have experience in changing belts in National RX-7000?
Thanks, Michael

Many decks has a dedicated belt for FF and RW functions.
Does the mecha spins without tape ?. I don't remeber if the RX-700o was full-logic transport, but it's important to check that function enganges. Then it could be a belt problem or a friction pad that needs to be adjusted.
Some movement detection is tied to one of the take-up reels, so one function (RW or FF) most shut-off alone after a short time without tape.

the mecha do not spin at all on FF/RW: with/without tape, but PLAY function works.

It looks like mecha trying to spin on FF/RW, but immediately stops.
