Panasonic RX-C60 Playback Through Line Out Only

oldskool69 - 2009-07-10 10:29

This thing has been quite the enigma for me. What I do know is this:

1. If I run the signal in through the line-out it will playback quite loud with volume, bass and treble functioning normally.

2. The led meters, tuner, cassette, aux/phono and loudness switch do not function. There is faint volume at max when signal ran through aux input. You can tell that the bass/treble controls respond as well.

So what this tells me is that there is something weird going on with the mainboard. The amp is OK, the volume and tone controls section is OK.

I'm guessing the pre-amp section may be gone...and if so, does anyone have a junker? I'd probably just replace the mainboard. Smile

Thanks.

A junker RX-C60 may be hard to come by. I haven't seen too many of these boomboxes - but I have one!

Let me see if I understand you correctly. If y ou connect a source to the AUX IN, there is only faint output from the C60.

If you connect a source to the Line Out (I'm not sure why you'd do this, as the Line Out is supposed to be coming from the box, not going into the box), the volume and bass/treble work, but not the loudness and LED meters.

The box does play back via the line out oddly enough. The reason I did it is to find out if it was allowing feedback. Turns out it does it quite well. Laugh Out Loud

Other than that though, the cassette mechanism works like a dream but no audio. No audio via tuner or line in (normally) as well. There is a faint sound if I use my laptop headphone out at max volume. SO I'm wondering if the pre-amp section is out or there is a power flow issue I can't seem to chase down. Confused

You wouldn't happen to have a service manual would you? Smile
