Final M90 Product with High resolution video to see it in action

kittmaster - 2008-01-30 15:45

Well, after a lot of delays, issues, and problems, we have finally arrived at a final solution.

This is the final high resolution video showing this product. This is the FINAL revision and completely retooled and completed. Even before now, there are a few members who want this and we are now ready to rock and roll.

At this time, the video shows everything you need and will receive if your interested. I will be dismantling the pieces so you can see the build quality and top notch engineering that went into this.

The video was tested in windows media player 11 and winamp. It's wmv, so it should be pretty universal.

Comments and replies good and bad welcome. Enjoy...Smile

The video weighs in around 65MB. Be sure to right click the link and "save target as" or else you'll see a blank screen while it downloads.

Wow, Chris, that is truly amazing engineering. All that effort for such a small market, that's dedication. Congrat's! I wish the cassette on my M90 worked, I would definitely buy one.

What is wrong with the deck?....

daiwa - 2008-01-30 17:16

Way to go Kitt! Excellent video. Would the remote work with any player that has a DIN connector?

kittmaster - 2008-01-30 17:17

I think only the JVC line. If the machine has a din connector and a wired remote, I could replicate the original functions if I knew what they were.....what were you thinking?

- 2008-01-30 18:24

Beutiful product chris 10/10 shame you can buy an m90 for what you or asking though, no offence meant i realize the project has been hard work congrats on completion Smile

Outstanding, Chris.

Might one ask how much you are knocking these out for? Smile

peter.griffin - 2008-01-31 05:43

When I turn it on, it makes a loud "clunk" sound. And I tried once, to put a tape in, and the play button stayed down, and nothing happened. Tape got stuck, but after leaving it off for like a hour, and turning it back on, I was able to get the tape outFrown

The cost is split between me and Capitol G, $575 + shipping.

Almost 65% of it is for parts and labor (10-12 hours of assembly).....very little profit. I have one member who wants multiple units, at that point I gave a discount. When I take it to ebay in about a month, starting price will be $700.

Some have comment that an M90 can be had for that, well.....I would agree, but there is no one else on the planet (that I know of) that has anything like it. Not trying to get rich, but a lot goes into this since each one is hand made from scratch and the cost of the raw materials!!

Just the boards alone in single runs cost over $340!

So I ordered 10....At this point, 1 is for me, 1 is for Capitol G, tentatively one member wants 3 of them right now.....so that leaves five left for build/sale.

I plan to post the pictures of the virtual and real product side by side so that every single nook and cranny can be seen to show the quality and reason behind the price point.

If they sell great.......if not.....well.....at least a few of us will be very happy.....Wink

ps:video doesn`t work for me...Confused

charlesdickens - 2008-01-31 06:56

CHRIS YOU DID IT! I agree that the price sounds a bit lofty but having produced ultra limited/100% unique items from scratch myself, I know how much hard work goes into it. All of those raw materials and and hours really add up. Honestly I think the price is more than fair. Sure, one could go to an electronics store and grab a universal remote for $15, the trick is how many electronics stores carry M90 remotes?

GREAT JOB Chris and Capitol G. Make sure you keep those schematics handy because one day, when I finally have an M90 to call my own I will 100% grab one of those babies off of your hands!

Thank you sir.........Smile

I will be donating a portion of the proceeds to S2G when the tranaction is complete for the member that is buying some of these.... Nod Yes

I don't know why the vid isn't working, did you try to right click and "save target as" or "save to disk"?

I tested it using the latest media player and the latest winamp.

If you want I can convert it to MP4 so you could use quicktime?

Let me know and thanks again for the support!!!

We still have to square up....I did't forget....but things are looking bright...more to come..Wink

I'm a little late on this Smile , but I have to commend you on a truly remarkable job and a great demonstration video.

kittmaster - 2008-03-01 05:48

Glad you liked it. I wish there was more demand for it, its been mentioned the price is to high. Oh well, considering almost 75% of it is parts and labor, I didn't expect to much. I have three built and one is mine one is G's and the other is up for sale. I'm going to have the mods undock these threads, i think they've run their course.

eddy - 2008-03-01 07:40

I really like your stuff Kittmaster but it's no good for me at the moment. Tapedeck of my 90 is f#cked up Frown

kittmaster - 2008-03-01 08:40

send it to me, I'll see if I can fix it.

What's wrong with it?

eddy - 2008-03-01 14:16

a lot of issues with it
- the wires to the remote connector are gone
- the capstan motor is not the original one
and is dead
- the pause led lits up constantly
I don't care about it really . I only use the tuner.

I have field tested it and it has almost a 1/2 mile range with obstruction of inner city 2 story houses, telephone poles and electrical lines.....huge range....Wink

Line of site is NOT required.

There are two different motors one for FF/REW and one for play. If its ramping for FF/rew.....I'd say that's fine since mine does the same......but to play?? That just might need a belt replacement. Play should be instant on.

I just sent out the remote for 3 cases to be built, the electronic are finished, tested, and ready to go. The shells will take about 2 weeks, I'll have a complete set here in my hands ready for sale in 2 weeks give or take a few days.

Capitol G has a full time job, as do I, so we are hoping to finish the build up of all 10 we've have on hand.

I can just see garage doors opening & shutting & TVs switching on & off all over your neighbourhood when you use this Big Grin

Very nice work ! Anything Custom "cost" so to speak and if you want custom stuff you have to pay for it. I think it's worth every penny but I've spent $200 on bicycle grips and if you want to talk about custom car stuff $600 wouldn't get you custom head rest LOL I love the fact even the remote looks the part and has that whole 80's feel. Nicely done and the Video was perfect.

I know it seems like a lot of dough but if I had a M90 and the deck worked I'd be all over it

believe that Cool
