Tape Deck Not Recording

rabbit.ears - 2011-10-13 16:59

Hi,

I've recently picked up an Emerson CTR944A.

I have given it a good clean up, changed the belts in the decks and it plays tapes pretty good.

The only thing not working at the moment is that the B tape player is not recording at all. The record light does not light up either.

Any ideas to why I can't get this box to record?

Thanks!

if the tab's on the cassette are broken off and/or the hole in the back corner is a hole  - then you should be able to record

If the hole in the back corner of the cassette is OPEN or NOT Blocked then No Way Possible to record, unless you stick your ? in there and fake the machine - well that's another story

Thanks, but not the cassettes.

When I push both the play and record buttons down instead of recording it seems to just play the casssette.

Thanks...

has this unit ever been opened before? the linkage for the recording circuit could be not aligned and therefore not engaging the recording circuit

Yes I opened it up to change the belts.

So what am I looking for? Got diagrams/photos?

Thanks

Emerson CTR944A kinda sorta close to the Emerson CTR 965 Boombox - just a few numbers off
