Hi there, i've just got myslf a JVC M90, the radio works, but the tape deck does'nt, it does'nt show any signs of life. Before I first tried tape deck and switched from FM radio, the tape deck would eject and shut ok, but the first time i switched on to tape mode, opened and placed a cassette tape into it, shut, found out it didnt work, since then the door just jams/locks shut, eject buttton goes ridged. I had to gently prize door back open to get tape out.     Any suggestions for reason or fault finding for this and how to fix it?many thanks

Prying the door open didnt help... Solenoid controlled head's were up and in contact with cassette tape which interferred with the door opening... hopefully your mechanism will survive the abuse you 'gently gave it'.....

next time try cycling the power if your cassette is stuch in the solenoid operated whatever - IF IT IS NOT YOUR CASSETTE leave it in there.... as it was doing whatever it was doing just fine untill you tried ripping out the cassette...

I alway use a throw-away cassette in decks that i dont know if they are gonna lock-up the the first time that Iuse it or to see if it's gonna work.... cause If it get's stuck in there then I AINT GONNA BREAK IT MORE JUST TO GET THE TAPE OUT.....

that is what the tech's are for - Like me  cept ... well that's another story

Do the red lights come on when you select the music search? (on right side of the deck...1 to 5 in red)

if they do then it more than likeley needs belts....10 min job...even after a bottle of whisky lol....if they don't james is more than likley right.....fusible risistor has blown on the deck
