Fixed the 9191 and Broke it again/Advice

jacko1088 - 2012-05-15 12:14

Well i had the Machine in pieces yesterday to clean the Record/Playback switch as it had a horrible noise comming from it. Fixed that Tapes worked and gave it a run in for about an hour or so Only to hear the tape slowdown and have it chew it up. Took it to pieces again and the Drive belt was slacker than a wizards sleeve. Does anybody know where i can buy these belts from or is there a way to jimmy a Laggy-band on there and have it work? Or in worst case scenario a whole new deck?

TYVM For the Reply Orderd some fresh ones . I took the belt out of a Old TRK 7250 that was not working. Tape plays fine (Tempo etc) Its just chewing them up around the Pinch Roller/ Spinny metal bar thing (Cant remember the Fancy name)

right that will be the capstan rubber that needs changing you will have to make one , if the pinch roller is not moving thats the problem .

Think thats located behind the deck on the Weighted Flywheel part? Was reading that somebody had one that turned to Goo. Also the Pinch Roller spins too.

the flywheel is at the back the rubber is at the front that drives the pinch roller .

The wheel (Rubber outer) behind the belt has some kind of Sticky stuff running off it whilst in playback. Also that website has some awesome stuff got some decent parts for other things off there too

Right so im to remove the deck. Take the Metal Weighted thing out Make a new Rubber for it. Also got a new roller for the pinch roller off there on its way too. Replace that and i (Hopefully) should be alright?

You can use a radio controlled car fuel line to put a piece of rubber in that place. Just order a few different thickness and types from ebay for cheap and a small piece will do the trick nicely.
