Clip
Elbow deep in this aiwa trying to rebelt the swine...does anyone have the belt size for the main flat belt which I'm assuming goes from the motor spindle around the flywheel?...they were melted away on this so have no clues

they are fun ,  if i remember right its a 5 mil diam 68 mil .  and yes the belt goes from the flywheel straight to the motor with a small square belt on top .    also check the two small belts from the gearbox to the other motor chances are they are shot to .

also dont be surprised when you put it back together again the deck is dead then all sorts of fun await you

Cheers mate, that's awesome

If the gearing is shot then I'll just disconnect the deck as I usually use line in anyway. It's just I like my boxes fully working.

I also read about the deck being a nightmare to deal with and I like a challenge

From what I can see of the gearing it looks ok  tho and its clearly been well looked after. So fingers crossed

Been trawling the net for 68mm by 5mm but can't find one

Would you go 65mm by 5mm or 69mm by 3mm as I can find these?

northerner - 2013-04-14 04:04

Anybody reckon which is the best option?

deliverance - 2013-04-14 04:07

3 mil 68  will do . just to add buy a few flat belts in various sizes they come in handy better than buying one at a time .

Hi and I'm also  repairing the cassette on one of these but don't know the belt sizes. Please can you tell me what set you have used and the sizes. Can't wait to get it going again but struggling to find the belts I need. Great if you can help me.
