lot of work and effort there, got to admit it looks cool but im dead against modding vintage boxes-sorry dude

Andy, I would normally agree but some of the machines we see for sale these days are missing parts like tape deck doors and they are so very unlikely to ever turn up that you might as well use the incomplete box for a project like this. I think it's brilliant and inspiring.

Would I want to see a really clean and complete box desecrated? Hell no.

the Panasonic RX-5250 in my eyes is one of the iconic boomboxes of the 1980's.. I wouldn't normally do a mod like this.. but honestly it makes this beauty so much more versatile.. I can watch movies on it (yea it's kinda tiny for that) but it's so cool to be able to do it.. 1000's of internet stations at my fingertips.. a 32GB micro SD filled with days of music.. and enough reserve power to last 4-5 sets of D-cells before the internal battery needs a recharge.. I think it's really cool.. I know most of you still love the analog cassettes.. and that's great.. but I have moved on.. mixing old school with new school is awesome.. if done right that is.. I put a lot of thought and hard work to make this a reality.. it's not perfect.. but man it looks freakin cool! and you can always bring it back to it's former glory.. I didn't hack it enough to not make it reversible..

I gotta say I like it. Old school meets new school but in a tasteful way unlike those TDK knockoffs.

Well done
