The incredible TENSAI

viennasound - 2009-01-07 11:09

Before christmas i shot this box at austria ebay.
It looked nice at the pic and so i got it.
The price was ok, but the discription was more than less. Only "collectible", nothing about working... Tap Toes
Normally i would be more carefully, but too late.

Today i got the parcel:

Opening it, poor packed.
Only one gluestrip, it opened nearly from itself.
Littlebit paper and only styropor on one side. No No

Good luck, the guy from the post is a friend of me. And the transporters before must have been careful too, so it survived. Smile

Some damages and cuts around, scratches on the scale... Frown But not from shipping!

At the bottom is a little batteriebox for the clock. Door missing! Frown
But the clock works. The buttons need some help because of the dirt inside...

Then testing. Plugging in - nothing. Nothing at all. No tape, no radio! Tap Toes
Means "collectible" dead and only for watching? Confused

Ok, maybe the trafo is dead.
So i will try it with batteries.
BATTERIES !!???!!!
Just noticed...why is this box so heavy?
Bad remembers grow up.
Opening the batteriedoor.

Aaaargh! Eek
I hate old batteries. I hate it!
But luck, they just began to leak.
In the last moment i took them out.
A few month later and they would start corrosive destruction like at the NORDMENDE ! Red Face

Then i connected it with the testing trafo.
Nothing! Hrmpf
All switches tested - dead.
I was near to shoot it out of the window and give a very bad statement at ebay... Mad

For a short moment i went out of the room (it was still connected with the trafo).
Suddenly horrible noise!
The box has started playing with maximal volume.
Running to it to turn the volume back.
Not able! Eek

Disconnecting the trafo, plugging in with 220V.
Plays! The volume regulators working too. Confused

Testing the expanded stereo, clock, station switch... working.
Tape is dead. Motor works. Maybe only the belts...

Short look at the LEDs:

Clock:

One of the strangest boxes i bought. Wink
When i´m writing this, the box is just joking with me. Volume comes and go, Clock beeps,....
I think it needs some more work. Big Grin

But i´m just glad, that it is´nt finally dead.
So i will try to make a fully repair. Roll Eyes
