My collection

el.rojo.grande - 2008-07-11 20:49

Just added this Panasonic. Got it free from my Father. This was our family's first boombox, bought new in '81- Panasonic RX-5020. Still sounds pretty sweet with lots of bass.

This Panasonic F4 was my first old school addition to what is now a pretty fascinating hobby. Bought at Salvation Army for $4.99. Cleaned up the volume pot and pretty much good as new.

This JVC PC R2-JW came from a Goodwill. It took a lot of smooth talking and trading a new egg. It's in perfect condition, except that the EQ sliders need a bit of TLC.

Here's a Fisher PH D7700 still working strong as the house radio since '94. One of the Proto-egg Biomorphic Designs from the era.

The whole collection for now. The little GE
P-975F snuck into the picture, and while meeting no definitions for a boombox or walkman, he certainly was in line to where boomboxes would go.

So that's the collection for now.

Hold up, wait just a minute. In a few days the Boombox Stork will dropping off this beauty at the door step. This is the exact model of my first boombox back in '84. The Hitachi TRK W55HC. Can't Wait.

Some of these are very cool looking. My 7700 replaced this model:

I thought the angular yet slanted construction of this series was a bit nicer, though.

Jaredscottfla-

You'll have to upload a photo of that. Maybe we should do a thread on proto-boomboxes, and drag out all of our real old stuff.
