My Boomboxes Part 1

ghettoboom777 - 2008-11-06 18:06

Hi everyone-Here's some of my boombox collection.
I had only 25 photos in the camera,4 of which I used for the Pumpkin so here's some of them and I'll have the rest of my boomboxes to show you within the next couple of weeks.
These turned out a little btter than last time but I still need to make a better back drop for them.I have too much junk in my apt!!
I have boxes for some of mine but they're in storage and some I just didn't bring out this time(buried in closet)
Part 2 has more grails and boxes-coming soon!
Enjoy & have a great weekend-Ghettoboom777. Smile

Nice shots! That Fisher is very unique. It has that space age, in your face, big look! Nod Yes

Great collection Ghettoboom777! I especially love that little magnavox thats all black with the orange graphics on it. That radio's super suave.

Wow I remember that Sanyo with the tweeters in front of the woofers. My uncle may he R.I.P. had this one OMG I was only fifteen when I first saw this one.

Thanks for sharing you took me back.

If I'm correct I believe that Sony CFD-S39 may have been the first ever boombox that played MP3 files burned onto a CD.If not,I'm thinking it was Sony's first one to do this.I have one somewhere I bought when it was new. It's presets do a good job and it's nice and loud for a box of its type.By the way,how does the Sony Xplode compare to some of your more heavy weight performing boomers? That interest me greatly!

Nice collection!
Some are very strange looking, like the Fisher and Sony... Big Grin

My favourites are the 777 and the little Philips (Magnavox). Nod Yes

Hi Jovie-The G500 is very comparable or the same.
The G500 is a much bigger box with better acoustics than it's predasessor the G-55 which you can see in the photos.
There are twin amplifiers in both but the G500 is much better when you run the bass boost on full.
The G-55 better bass at half bass boost.
I have heard the Sony Explode at Target when they came out a year or 2 ago.I think very comparable with the G500.Both of which have remote controls to!
By the way the CFD-S39 has C.D. sound effects!
Loop and flash effects which are really cool to fool around with sometimes.I also like that it has a digital clock. But only the G-55 has the lit-up backlight display.I really wish they would have continued that in the G-500 but that's alright.
Thanks for your interest,I like these Sony's.they sound really good.
Have a great weekend-Ghettoboom777. Smile

Hi Ford93-It's funny because I bought my original Sanyo M9970 brand new in Manhattan electronics district in 1980'!
I was there visiting my aunt and uncles and some relatives there.
I love this box-I originally sold it to my neighbor but he passed away way back in 1986' and I don't know whatever happened to that box?
This one is not the original one I had bought back in 1980' but it's the same almost because this one works better-mine had a work-out!
By the way in the last photo there are 2 JVC PC-55JW's hiding behind the M70 and other junk!
Have a great weekend-Ghettoboom777. Smile

redbenjoe - 2008-11-07 07:50

thats quite an expansive range of design Smile

baby.boomer - 2008-11-07 09:24

Agree with redbanjo!

I'm impressed with the assortment of style, color, design and vintages in your collection. If variety is the spice of life, then your life must be pretty tangy!! Thanks for the photos.

P.S. Due to lack of space, I disrespectfully store my Fisher PH-D360 out in the garage. After seeing your Fisher, I'm thinking it might just be time to bring mine in out of the cold, at least for the upcoming winter months.

ghettoboom777 - 2008-11-07 11:12

Hi Babyboomer-That's where I got mine!
Mine came from my friend's garage,He got a home unit and I traded 2 vehicle detailings for this-what a deal.
By the way can you believe the subtone bass that these things put out?
It's really impressive.
I need a remote though.
Thanks everyone or your kind replies.
Part 2 will be posted in about a week or 2.
Have asuper weekend-Ghettoboom777. Smile
