That's INSANE. She definately had a friend shill bidding on that. It wasn't even close to mint condition. Replacement antenna's and dirty on the back cover. Sounds like neither tape deck even worked!

"Cassette Tape 1 does not play and I did not try Tape 2 {seems to be dub only}."

chris69 - 2011-09-05 02:24

No one in their right mind would have pay over $3000.00 for a Conion in that condition

ghettoman - 2011-09-05 02:42

even a mint one,in the box,i still would'nt pay anything like that,$500 max, well that would be in the real world !!

I sold mine on ebay, think i got about £250 for it,cant remember properly, and i was surprised i even got that..mine was in ok condition, all worked, and nothing was missing, but buyers in uk dont go as silly over boomboxes like people do in other countries..like Jvc M70 on uk ebay sell for about £100-£150,where as in usa (like most boxes) they sell for craZY money,i had a discolite,i sold it for £200,but in usa one would fetch $1000,crazy cash for a discolite, because take the LightShow away, they are a heap of cheap sh*te.

What's the saying.....a fool and their money are soon parted.

Well when the hangover subsides and the shipping costs are calculated...this person may be quite upset at him/herself for buying something that may or may not work.

I could think of MANY other things to blow $3000.00 on...like a potato in the shape of Abe Lincoln....

I love Ebay!

chris69 - 2011-09-05 03:24

I'm will to bet that you see that Conion relisted under a different seller ID on ebay.

She definately had some friends shill bidding to push the price up. I mean seriously just read her description. Also note that last question that she made sure she made public so everyone could see. That's a huge hint right there because most bidders will never tell the seller that they "are will to bid a couple grand" lol!! You never tell the seller something like that because the seller can take advantage and push the price sky high!!

Just looks at the pics.... both tape decks were dead and non working....replacement antenna's and dirty.

Even a MINT one goes for about $1500.00 and that is on a very good day.

This is where the shill bidding started and i'll bet you see it relisted by one of these bidders or another one of her "friends"

Nice scam..

Like you said Chris....it'll find it's way back online soon. I do love that question you flagged from the auction

..am willing to pay a couple grand for the box.

This guy/gal must be a car salesman's dream come true!

chris69 - 2011-09-05 03:44

Yeah i'm sure she got other questions or comments after that one about the guy willing to blow a couple grand on it but she made sure that was the last question posted. Red flag there for sure. I really like your idea of buying a potato shaped like Abe Lincoln Wonder where i can get one? I would blow say 5 grand if you can find me one hahaha!! Originally Posted by Brutus442:

To be fair to the sellers, its not always their fault for being greedy, they do it because time and time again they see stupid buyers that are having to re-morgage their house or are willing to spend all their life savings on a boombox..i dont get it,the most i've spent in one go is £750,which in todays exchange rate is $1200,but that was a one off thing, but for that i got 2x Sharp GF999s and a GF535,thats 3 boxes which in my opinion are better than a conion, and they work..

Getting 'it' would be for the fact that the population is ever expanding and the knowledge of these boombox's from the past held by those from the past not willing to sell them, cause they know what these are worth in the past.  Flash to the present, Oldschooler's Now needing cash are relunctantly selling their prized possessions 'boombox's, and once these come out of the closet and are sold then go for ever increasing money till somebody gains some sense and then the prices for these will go back down, so it's just a matter of time for the present sale's hi price hiccup, for me it's great for the short term, but when I run out of the bigger box's to sell, then the real struggle begin's.

F.Y.I. am in the process of selling my last M70 to the 'owner' of 'this' thread.

I dont want to, but; I have to, as we are  ....

mrupscale1 - 2011-09-05 19:13

Stay tuned!! i have a few units i am selling next month. Im in need of a M90 so im selling units to get ready to bid on a good 1.
