lav.loo - 2012-06-21 02:43

one of the nicest looking boxes iv'e ever seen, great score congrats

ghettoman - 2012-06-21 05:04

i do like these,i agree they look ok,but hell knows what all the fuss is about, there is alot more boxes out there that look and sound nicer than this..

i would buy one if i saw one cheap at a boot fair, same goes for a M90,M70,but i would'nt go mental over one on a auction, thats just me..

sorry,i know i have probebly upset almost every box collector in the world, but i'm only saying what i feel..

isolator42 - 2012-06-21 05:11

Ooh, lovely. Good for you.

First time I clapped eyes on this one it went on the wish list for me, because the speakers remind me of my home stereo spekaers; Wharfedale Vanguards:

When I found out how rare those Toshibas are & how pricey the are when one does turn up, I kinda gave up on that dream...

ghettoman - 2012-06-21 05:19

i've had a couple of dream boxes,but the Bombeat 40,M70,M90 has never been one of them,the only dream boxes i want is/was Sharp GF878,GF757,Sharp RS5/GX400,Maybe a A Tosh S90..

ghettoman - 2012-06-21 05:21

Edit..scrubbed it,sorry to iso and lav paper ..

them Vanguards are nice man, they did another model that were nice, venetta with the double bass,i had 2 pairs of E30 with the twin bass, wish i still had them..my fave old skool speakers are Leak 3030 or Jvc Spx660..i just love speakers..

lav.loo - 2012-06-21 05:49

i think Isolator was referring to Alex there BM when he put ooh lovely good for you.

i think it was he's congrats to him.

isolator42 - 2012-06-21 06:09

Lav Loo, you are correct.

Beanie Man your post wasn't there when I started writing (I'm at work & get distracted alot by people who want me to actually do stuff... damn cheek   )

My post wasn't a sarky comment aimed at you.

Nothing wrong with disliking a boomer that many others like. Personally, I don't go a bundle on the Conion C100F & I think the Kaboom looks cool...

You'll be talking about the Wharfedale Ventanas, the Vanguards little brother:

I had a sales sheet for the Vanguard & Ventana - they were launched together in the late 80s. Both are very sensitive (99dB/m) & so play *very* loud. The Ventana's upper woofer does midrange duties & they have a rear firing bass port.

When choosing, I listened to the Ventanas first. They sounded good - very detailed but too 'forward' in the midrange for me. My brother had some Wharfedale E45s which have the same drive-units & sounded very similar.

Then I tried the Vanguards & the difference was immediate. The detail was still there but they had immense 'authority'. That 10" woofer in the 70 litre front-ported cabinet gave seriously low bass. I couldn't get my credit card out quick enough.

To this day, I have no need at all for a subwoofer in my home system...
