another philips today!

lav.loo - 2012-11-07 06:27

well guys you all know how much i love the d8614 so this comes as no surprise lol....i got another today

this one comes curtesy of member Bison as iv'e done a swap for my tosh8900. Bison was kind enough to post this out to me and then have a courier pick the tosh up in a few days free of charge to me

anyway she's fully working and in good condition, all i had to do was open her up to clean the woofers and get the shine back on the caps.

here's a couple of lazy shots, the second pic is a pic of my 2 8614's in sync on shelves in my front room, thanks for looking

Congrats LAV, get as many as you can. this reminds me of Matrixambience and his RX-5050's, I think he ended up with ten.

lav.loo - 2012-11-07 08:30

northerner - 2012-11-07 10:08

Lol...it's the good looks and awesome sound for the price of a good meal out mate!! You don't need to look at the inside for long, plus you don't look at good looking woman and say look at the innards on that...or maybe you do?! Ha ha!

stereo.mad - 2012-11-07 11:02

That's very important. With the clear shining caps at the center, I feel that the sound is crisper!!

Still remember the news paper ads from Philips, introducing this model as the Sound Machine.

mark.gf575 - 2012-11-08 05:31

Congrats on another D8614!!! I've noticed the plastic is nice and clear on your LED display mine's somewhat yellowed/opaque but not scratched, thinking it might be dirt/nicotine stained but inside. Are these boomers easy to take apart and is there anything I need to watchout for. Thanks in advance.

lav.loo - 2012-11-08 06:29

thanks Mark, iv'e only ever gone inside to take out the woofers to clean which are vey easy to do.

iv'e never done belts ect but from what i can see it looks an easy box to play with

one thing to watch out for is if you take out the woofers then watch the wire which is attached to the tweeters, it's very thin wire and is easily broken as it's happened to me twice

If your front room was smaller and if you still had? your Philips D8514.

Would you consider showing a pair of of Philips D8514 's ?

or is Your front room so big that a smaller box would be lost in it?

I have a Philips D8614 with the broken gear for the Motorized pushbutton cassette controls

Have you ever been inside of the D8514 when you had yours?

lav.loo - 2012-11-08 07:02

i live in a flat as it happens and the front room is quiet small.

to be honest i don't think i would display 2 8514's, their cheaper looking than the 8614's.

i would however have another one though no question.

never went inside the 8514 i had
