Hi Guys, I got this, a little boring looking, box last week! This thing sounds so good! Think its one is one of my best sounding boxes. It isn't loud at all, but sound is so clear. Well balanced between highs and bass. Some sort of hifi box! I also discovered it makes beautiful recordings from radio. The tapes just sound awesome in my walkmans.
It has this fancy tape deck with music search and auto-rewind. Glad it just worked well when I got her, cause when I opened it out of curiosity, I was amazed by the complexity of the tape deck! Its a Pioneer SK-51. Paid 25 euros. Not to much considered the sound quality...

Ow sorry bout the boring bit But it is a little bit.... There are no flashy VU meters, no pumping chrome speakers or any complicated looking switches and knobs.
There is one green blinking led when it's playing a tape.... And some LEDs in the tuner scale that can't be seen unless you really look into the scale.... It looks different that's for sure.... But it compensates its boringness with its good sound..
And seeing the tapedeck operating itself with the search and auto rewind is rather special.

Did you also do the belts Chris? Must be a lenghty job! This tapedeck looked so complicated when I took a peek inside. luckily these are stil okay, but I'm afraid they won't last long... They are still the original ones....

Look for SK-71 (1+10 LEDs) or SK-95 (12 LEDs) with the same body.
One of the most beautiful and smooth LED VUs you can ever see on a boombox.
